Hi
I was wondering if anyone was aware of any learning arabic classes that are available as an evening class and how much a term is?
Also I am interested in learning to cook middle eastern food and about the history of the country.
yes shazbat, one of my cooleagues also told me that it would be better to get private course from an arabic teacher if we can make a group of 3-4. he will check one teacher for me, i will let you know if i have any news.
I too am looking for a good conversational Arabic course. I have checked into a few, but havnt been impressed (either too costly or too much emphasis on grammar and exams). What we could do with is for someone who has already taken an Arabic course and can recommend it. Is there anyone out there?
From your previous posts, are you joining QOSMC?? If so, don't worry about looking for Arabic classes, the hospital is offereing Arabic classes for the staff.
i called berlitz and CHN, they both sound reasonable,i know the experience of berlitz in foreign languages but berlitz price is a lil bit high. i will go on to search and let you 2 know if i learn anything new.
yes jolene, i am already in the city but i am a newby, just 1 month:-) but you are very wellcome anyway.
Well. 'manubti' and'krc', I have been offered a job but I'm waiting for my official confirmation so it may fall through as yet but hopefully any time after 23rd February and I'd like to start arabic classes straight away. So when or if I know what date I arrive, I'll let you know?!?
I'm not arriving in the country till the end of February but I want to have all the info before I arrive. Such as all the phone numbers 'manubti' has brilliantly provided for me so I can arrange something the minute I arrive. I like to be organised!! So 'krc' if you are in the country already maybe you could try those numbers nd see what comes up? I have tried the berlitz website and that looks promising so I think I might look into that first.
i know only one its Berlitz language center , its about 300 meters on ur right when coming from the mall roundabout, the last course ends at 9h, u can book at ur own scedule, the fees including the books and all what you need are 50 riyals per hour.. anyway u can check for urself, but i know their method, u will be able to speak very soon, its not about alphabets and grammar its about conversation.. good luck, hope to talk to u in arabic soon, bye
about middle eastern food i think we could open a topic about it on this site and everyone gives a recipee from his country..

And, Gus all that middle eastern cuisine sounds gorg but I'd love to learn how to cook it properly.
I don't know about the arabic classes, but with regards to the food there is many middle eastern cuisines:
. Lebanese cuisines (restaurants: Al-Saha, Layali, Massaya, Al Khaima...many other) famous dishes: Tabbouleh, Shawarma, Kebbe, Homos Tahina ...etc.
. Gulf cuisine (rice base food of indian/persian origine): Famous dishes: Kabsa & majbous
. Egyptian cuisine (I don'r know any restaurant) dishes: Koshari, Ta'mia, Mouloukhia...
. Palestine/Jordan cuisine (Restaurant: Al Jabri) dishes: Mansaf, Mousakhan
. Turkish cuisine: (restaurants: Turkey Central Restaurant) Dishes: (Grills..)

Hi jolene;
Pls call : 4930862 or 4930863
Fax: 4930864
e-mail: [email protected]
for your arabic classes. It was published on gulf times dated 9th Jan, tuesday.
Good Luck
that's right, suhail
but that will not get you the ads that come in Gulf TImes except the Classifieds. Rest of the ads you see only in the hard copy.
if you mean "copy" of gulf-times, just go
to http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/index.asp?cu_no=2&lng=1&template_id=51&temp_type=42
instead.
You will find all the copies you want.
Thank you for your help. The Berlitz language centre sounds very promising. I'll check it out when I arrive.
Ill try, if i could find a copy at my office and let you know if possible.
There was a ad in gulf times of 7 th or 8th I forgot the exact date.they have provided the ph. no., get a copy and give a call.
some organization called FANAR (I dont know what that is) also conducts arabic classes for free.
Good Luck.
