Posting again to understand a point;
I have done my medical checks and are ok, I am coming in Qatar for work then will sponsor my family.

My wife will take the medical in Qatar and if by bad luck she does not pss one test (for example Hep B) can her RP be rejected and she will not be able to stay in Qatar ?

family members, e.i wife/HOUSEwife- HIV test only!

BUT..if ur wife is a MEDICAL staff (e.i. Nurse) and she intends to work here after obtaining RP under ur sponsor, then she needs to undergo medical again and pass through all test before given the licence to work. just in my case, actually i only got the results today! :)

Everyone seems to have a different answer for this. I have heard that family members do and do not have to take a medical

I have heard that HIV, HepC and TB are all that is tested, then again I hear that any form of contagious disease is tested for.

There are entire conversations about what constitutes 'contagious'.

Does anyone have a good answer.....most web searches either lead back here or avoid the issue all together!!!

I'd really appreciate any help finding out if a non contagious HepB carrier can get through the medical. I am in the middle of negotiating a reassignment to Qatar and cannot commit till I know I can get my family in. I am free from infection (must be - I am in Kuwait!!) and have been vaccinated and the third family member is clear of infection also.

HELPPPP!!!!

Wouldnt your wife having an infectios health condition mean that its very likely you have it also? Unless your vaccinated?

Yes the sponsored family has to go through the medical if they are on visit for more than a month or if they are planning to obtain resident status. Wife and kids above 16 will have to take the medical.

Han19 - Anyone required to go through a medical should pass the test. If they don't pass, they can be and will be asked to leave. Respiratory illnesses and other contagious illnesses like Hep B etc. are top on their list. I've heard of cases where people failing these tests were quarantined and evicted asap. No second chances were given.

I think there is another thread that covers this topic and confirms what I said. Why have the medical for the family?

Perhaps the best way of confirming is to contact your prospective employer.

I never heard of this happening but neither do I know of any family member failing the medical.

Han19,

That's the point, I raised the question to the UK agency hiring me, still not sure as they told me family that I will sponsor has not to pass any medical examination but I read in this forum that they do have to pass medical examination at entry in Qatar.

Where is the truth?

hey dweller are u sure of this?

if the main applicant is clear medically and has his rp, then he sponsors his family, do you know of them ever refusing the family members rps if medically unfit. i havent heard of it.

In a nutshell, if anyone fails the medical check the RP will not be issued and the person will have to leave the country.
