Is it OK to Bring Someone Else's Prescription to Qatar?
I was told by British Airlines that it's OK for me to take someone else's prescription on the airplane in my checked (but not carry-on) bag. Since the name on the prescription bottle won't be the same as my name, I would like some reassurance that there won't be any problems with clearing customs when I land in Doha.
Have any of you done this and did you have any problems with customs?
I have to bring a years worth of anatacids, B.P, pain killers and for bi-polar syndrome medicines. But quantity is a lot which will run into hundreds. They will be with prescription and in checked baggage. Will there be a problem with the Customs. Please advise.
I carry my mum's (one year) prescription medication for Heart, BP, from India in my checked in baggage and there has been no problems.
I brought a years worth of perscribtion meds with me when I moved to Qatar, never had any problems whatsoever! I'm sure that you will be fine.
I have travelled in july to India and back with pscyotropic drugs issued by the hamad hospital and some other emegency medications in my purse, and alhamdullilah, i didnt have any problem, the bags were screened in the x-ray, and no one asked anything.with little babaies, i have to travel with my own emergency pharmacy, and alhamdullilah i didnt have a problem, so i am guessing that if its just a small quantity of meds you are carrying and it is not any of those habit forming drugs, you should have no problems.
i am sorry i should have mentioned my experience at the outset, but it just didnt strike me, i was looking at the whole issue as an objective third person and forgot about myself.
i am hoping that as long as you have a proper prescription for the meds you are carrying, you should not have a problem.
i dont have an idea of a list of illegal prescriptions,if your airline is having no problem with it, then it should be fine.
So long as it's a genuine pharmaceutical product, you're unlikely to encounter serious problems, even if they search your bag. I had some medicine posted to me once, because the local pharmacists din't stock it. Customs held it for a while to run tests, (and destroyed one of the three packets) but I got it eventually. Just as well it wasn't vital.
British Airways said I could fly with someone else's prescription if I put it in my checked bag (not carry-on), so that's what I will do. I don't know where to find the list of prescriptions that are illegal in Qatar. Does anyone here know? Thanks for the replies!
if its something that you strictly need a prescription for, then there could be problem, like in the case of pschycotropic drugs, otherwise shouldnt be a problem.
i know of a lady who had such medicines (she had an accident, so it were one of those pain relief meds,u dont easily get a prescription), but she didnt carry her prescription with her, she had a tough time, if i am not mistaken, the medicines were taken from her.i met her since she had come to the clinic where I was waiting for an appointment to get a prescrition.
are you getting this for yourself, it would be better if you get some authorisation that you require it, or something like that.
I can't give you an assurance but as long as it's a legal drug you shouldn't have a problem.
