Help?
It was fine when I first got a Q-tel mobile. Now I can't. And my friend in California can't text me either. Anyone got any idea why?

One thing you could do is use skype to text your friend in cali, its efective and cheap, somthing like 20c a txt...The reply will be delived to your phone if you confirm your number with skype(which is an easy thing to do)
www.skype.com d/l the software fill it up with 10$ and off you go...you can also make voip calls to the states for like 2c a min, its great...i use it to talk to my sis in Canada
erm, anyway of telling what thingamagic she's on? Will it be on her phone somewhere?

ME ALSO, I COULDN'T EVEN CALL MY UNCLE THERE,.. I BELIEVE IT DEPENDS ON THEIR PROVIDER WHETHER THEY ARE TIED UP WITH OUR Q-TEL?

It does not work for some networks. I am unable to sms back to or receive sms from my home country GSM networks too. (not US) :(
So having gsm on both sides is not enough..!
Does your friend in the USA use the CDMA technology ? If so, that could be the problem as we use GSM in Doha.
GSM - GSM texting usually works.
LIke i could text from usa to doha with my cingular sim.
