Winter

On the 16 August, the day I left South Africa for Doha, the temp in Johannesburg was 9 degrees. I was wearing a polarneck top, jersey and leather jacket. Hence, I now sit with these items in my cupboard and wonder if I will ever get to wear them or if they are going to waste space.

Last year when I was here, it was November and it wasn't cold. So can you tell me when it does start getting chilly....

And, if so, is it cold enough, and does it last long enough for me to get some use out of the leather jacket I bought at the beginning of the winter season in SA.

Take care

X

you'll need it if you ever go to a movie here. And yes, it can be chilly in January, if there's a breeze blowing. I've seen hardy Nordic types flee indoors from garden parties any time December to Feb.

Xena I have been here a while and every winter I have worn a Fleece Jacket on a few days. Mornings can be chilly. Inside the house I have been known to wear it too - these buildings are built to keep cool in the heat, which in the winter do not retain the heat. Have also been know to watch TV with a blanket round me - maybe I should finally give in and invest in a little heater this year!

Qatar has very mild winters compared to other Gulf countries.

December and January are sometimes chilly with temperatures into the low double digits and if we're lucky into the high singles (celsius).

So you'll have an excuse to wear your jacket on at least a few days.
