Ok... in response to another poster, this thread is just for complete and utter garbage (which is what most of us post here anyway :P)

We will try and avoid ranting on other threads (unless its to defend our honour and dignity). So, if you have nothing constructive to say or just want to vent, welcome aboard.

Similarly, if you have a vlid question on a practical topic, please search the archive as many things have already been covered. If its new, please post a new thread. DO NOT ask questions on this thread that need a serious response :)

No I will break the cycle this weekend! I will meet the ONLY cute, single, wealthy, nice guy in Doha!

By Aqua• 11 Sep 2006 15:22
Aqua

Oh it's Monday, too soon after the weekend, we'll have renewed faith around Wednesday and then we'll encounter another weekend in Doha...and then back to square 1, it's a vicious cycle.

GIASI, you always have to be on the lookout for a stilletto weilding Fish. :P

ok.... you girls are scaring me. What happens when this male directed hatred spills over to ALL guys? should we be on guard for a stiletto to the temple? :P

By Aqua• 11 Sep 2006 15:15
Aqua

It is disrespectful. And you're a hot chick, you could have any guy you wanted anyway and then you could be the one dumping their sorry a**!

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 15:11
dohagirl

LOL Aqua, Believe me I'll have a fling when I'm in the mood for one. But you are right, men here do not have as much regard or respect for the women here. Just read the Dating and Clubbing Rebut thread. Back home no guy would go on about how all the woman are fat snobs, and you wouldn't have guys asking if you want to f**k after only knowing you for 20 minutes. It's completely disrespectful.

By Aqua• 11 Sep 2006 15:07
Aqua

I'm not saying that you shouldn't have a fling if you want to DG, but what fish is saying is true men wouldn't dare behave this way with women back home, they have a double standard- they don't have as much regard for women in Doha as the ones back in their home countries, that is my impression anyway. This is of course entirely off the mark, in fact we are better than their girls back home, we have a sense of adventure for coming here in the first place!

Just because we have a sweaty football coach, doesn't necessarily mean that we are all sweaty. Just because we like sangria doesn't necessarily mean that we smell of Sagria (actually it is a nice lovely fruity smell) . And just to expand your knowledge: we don't eat that much Garlic, that's the french.

I think relaxed relationship translates into "ill call you when im h0rny" :P

By Qatarcat• 11 Sep 2006 14:51

`If you look hard enough though you can find some men who are up for a "relaxed relationship" ` has to be the single most enlightening piece of information I gathered from today's discussion. Hats off to FrankyJ.

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:45
dohagirl

Every guy here wants a "relaxed relationship" Franky J, and so do many women. The problem is that the men here have lost all tact when trying to get it. They wind up scaring us off with desperation.

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:43
dohagirl

Ha, I don't think my kind of bluntness would go over well in the Middle East.

I just suddenly realized why my attitude about relationships has changed so much since I came to Doha. ANd I had to write about it.

By getinandstayin• 11 Sep 2006 14:41

Sorry... im pi$$ing myself here laughing at the tribune giving DG a "column". sorry... childish innuendo got the better of me again

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:40
dohagirl

I'm getting lectured on Yahoo now that I sound like I'm desperately trying to "give it" away. I would like to say I am not, I am not that kind of girl. I don't give it away to anyone. I was just having a realization, an epithany if you will. Might explain other girls inability to have flings in Doha. I however am a virgin and will remain one until marriage. Thank you.

By mochafrap• 11 Sep 2006 14:39
mochafrap

ditto, aqua.

funny though..those very same men who treat women like trash over here wouldn't dare act that way back home, or the women will slap them silly.

By AKS• 11 Sep 2006 14:39
AKS

DG, the Qatar Tribune should give you a column. You could teach Doha men how to have flings and treat women with respect at the same time thus helping everyone get laid

By getinandstayin• 11 Sep 2006 14:39
getinandstayin

Too true aqua. Women shouldnt sell themselves short (unless theyre angelina jolie) :)

By Qatarcat• 11 Sep 2006 14:38

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:37

I'm not saying I want to have a fling. I'm just saying that the attitude of the men negates any chance it happening.

By Aqua• 11 Sep 2006 14:36
Aqua

I think it's because they think that women in Doha have no value except to 'service' them, I'm getting sick of it, we deserve so much better- I prefer to stay single rather than not be treated with respect.

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:29
dohagirl

Seriously, I just don't think the men here know how to speak to women. I've had flings in 4 different countries before I came here, and I never left or entered one feeling like I was degrading myself by doing it. But here! Jeez I feel like I'm the lowest thing in the world if I so much as speak to a guy out of wedlock! I'm getting sick of it.

i just find it odd that even though we're living in the 21st century men seem to be acting more and more like neanderthals than anything else.

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:18
dohagirl

I think it's because there is a certain "dance" to just having a fling. Guy must be attractive, charming and a lot of fun, but not relationship material, he must know that and so must you. But he cannot come on to strong about just wanting sex. He needs to be subtle. Let the girl come around to the idea that she's just in the mood for a fling. Than let her give you the whole speil about how she's not looking for a serious relationship that she's just looking for a little fun. That way she has said loud and clear that she is not a whore, she is a nice girl who is just not into a serious relationship right now. This kind of dance can take all night, or even a couple of nights.

The guys here ruin this by just being to desperate and coming on to strong. They don't let us explain that we are not whores, by doing that, and jumping the gun and saying they are just looking for a one night stand, they make us feel like whores.

No girl likes to be known as a "one night stand" or "fling" kind of girl. Yet, pretty much all of us do have one night stands or flings.

By Qatarcat• 11 Sep 2006 14:17
Qatarcat

Whoah DG you want a meaningless fling based on sex AND respect at the same time.

Men aren't that advanced, ya know :P

By Aqua• 11 Sep 2006 14:16

I completely agree girls, there just isn't any respect.

is it that other women don't mind being treated that way?

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:12
dohagirl

I'm wondering that too Fish. I'm really not that much of a prude when the guy doesn't make me feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

By mochafrap• 11 Sep 2006 14:11
mochafrap

serious question though: why is it that men in doha constantly feel compelled to treat the women as if their "services" could be purchased like any other common commodity? i just don't get it..

By Aqua• 11 Sep 2006 14:11
Aqua

Belgian guy is cute, but too upfront. So looks doesn't really have that much to do with it...

By dohagirl• 11 Sep 2006 14:09
dohagirl

Exactly Aqua. I am not against a fling as long as the guy treats me with repect. Just because I'm having a fun sexual relationship with you doesn't mean I deserve to be treated like a whore. I think that's why I get so pissed at the guys here. No such thing as charming anymore.

By mochafrap• 11 Sep 2006 14:08

belgians must be weird that way i guess

By Aqua• 11 Sep 2006 14:07
