Hi. Does anyone know if/where I can get some technical service for my digital piano? I have a Kurzwiel RE210. Today (and it was that sudden) a number of keys developed a 'soft' sound and in fact also many do not sound on the first strike. There are no specific keys that this applies to, it appears to be random each time I run up or down the key board. Some are soft, some are ok, some dont sound. Different every time. A chip problem?? or circuit board? Before today it did not show any signs of a problem.
I am living in Doha and transported my digital here from Oman about 5 months ago by sea freight. A short journey but in transit itI probably suffered a bit of heat stress, and maybe even a knock, despite being well packed and stashed safely in my car on the journey.
Is this a common problem for digitals with a straightforward solution?
Whatever... the hard part will be finding a techy in Doha who can help.
Give it shot and try out this place Continental Traders. The no. is 4314734. His got brands of all sorts and can help you tune up or down your music instruments.
The shop is located near Souq Al Jaber - near Standard Chartered Bank.
Plus he's got a store which if you find difficult to go to the souq - you could go to Al Mansoura. Hopefully it is more convinent.
back home i manage to play rythmn for selected metallica songs.... first four albums were the best. I tried solo for enter sandman and unforgiven but i sucked so i was demoted to rythmn... never played for half a year now... fingers are not the way they used to be... ill check some guitar stores so i could play again...
im a well known guitar player in qatars underground metal music scene & also known for my music among the teenage crowd in doha.I speciaise in playing the acoustic, bass and electric guitars.mostly heavy metal.classic old skool and basic rock.i also play a bit of spanish guitar.i am interested in giving classes in guitar techniques and basic music theory for QR 1000 per month.i will not charge per hour.and i can teach at the learners house..if the learner requests for extra classes i will not be charing any extra fees.and we will start from basic music theory..to guitar parts..chords...different chord progressions.....scales.....finger techniques.....learn the famous songs etc.....and as the learner gets more skilled i will move on to the advanced level....i will also give classes as how the electric guitars and the bass guitars are played and how to train urself to play and sing together...
classes will begin once i get any interested student and i am ready to teach at the students house..the student is required to have an instrument of their own...i can give a good suggestion when buying the instrument....three classes per week...further changes might occur once i get any more interested students...looking forward to hear from you guys...thank you

Do You know Anything about drum kits? Are they cheaper in Qatar than in UK or USA? I would want a custom kit, not a Stage custom. The Music Shop in The Gold Souq, Does it have a website? and i know Badie music deal in TAMA drums...but do they have more than the lower (crap) series? Do they do TAMA Starclassics? I am going on holiday there and was wondering about getting a kit.
I just bought a Gibson at Musician's Friend online. It came in a week with Aramex. Paid 600 QR for shipping it here but was well worth it. I mean why pay 2000 to 5000 QR for a guitar you will not appreciate. I have played on axes that I bought because I didn't want to pay the price of a good one and when I got the Gibson I knew I was wrong to have done that. Get what you want, it's going to make you play better and make you want to play better. They have all brands and models. Make sure you get a case for them. If it isn't included make sure you buy want and have them put the guitar in it for the shipping.
Hi MagicDragon, thanks for going back to me so quick... I have a full load of rigs that will ship from Canada and adding the Telecaster was already in the picture so I shall be getting the shipping near end January hopefully but in the meantime I will shop around including the web to see if I could find a fair deal on a Telecaster.
Cadie studio have good equipment but slightlt expensive. I own a Ibanez RG series. Im into heavy / thrash metal. Luv to play cool riffs of metallica and others. Suck at soloing but i try hard. Any jammers ?
Hi MagicDragon are u still around in Qatar. I am fresh here, just arrived 2 wks ago and was wondering where you got ur Telecaster from? I was planning to buy one before moving in but would be nice to see if you encountered any problems as for the customs clearance and so on.
Guys, I can only advice you to by brand guitars (Fender, Martin, Gibson) via the Internet. I bought a Fender Telecaster and had no problems getting it here. Around 2.000 Riyals including hardcase.
you can learn from me. i am giving guitar lesson. You will learn to play your favourite songs and even compose your own. Right now im making a class , as soon as im ready i will get back to you. Keep me updated
Al Badie Music carries Roland bass amps. The prices are not great, but they have the full line up there. You can look above for the contact details and location.
Have a barely used Yamaha GA-15 Guitar Amp from Modern Home. Bought late July for QR299. My daughter used her Fender battery powered mini amp all the time. Heading back to US so can't use this 220V. Make your best offer. Email me at [email protected]

just in case anyone is interested, my husband is selling his Ibanez Prestige Electric guitar. It really is a beauty, but he's a bass player at heart, and so doesn't really play it that much. It's an original Japan made (not Korean made like most you find here).
hi! if your interested to learn how to play drums call me up at 5361875 or 4479056. Im doing private lessons on basic drums so to anyone interested parties feel free to call me.
International Center for music has probably 30 + guitars for sale upstairs. They are located behind Lulu Hypermarket, near the airport. Address is 39 Ahmed Bin Hanabal Street. They have a really great guitar teacher "Rick" as well. The Center for music is a great resource for all things musical in Doha. They can tell you where to get anything.
Also there is a music store near The Center bus station/souq area. If you go on the corniche from the port towards the airport turn right at the Perfume bottles Roundabout. Go straight through the light and at the RAB do a U-turn. The store is right there facing the RAB on the right.
Modern Home opened a music store next to Jarir Bookstore on Salwa. Pianos, Violins, Keyboards, Drums, and Guitars were all things that I saw there. Also, the same shop has an area in the Virgin Megastore selling instruments. The Virgin prices were cheaper than the Modern Home showroom for the same equipment. Sorry I can't be more help looking for a base, I was looking for a digital piano for my wife. In both shops I did notice guitars and possibly base guitars on display.
am just wondering if you want to read music sheets for drums (percussions) or just want to make your skills better ,... Form a group, i think that would be a better way for your skills development.
hey garciaes ,.. am thinking of trying out on your group, but i am not into pure metal,... most on my list is classic rock to heavy rock, to disco. I've been into bands b4,but its more of a pastime than a job ,.. now I am considering it as a hobby, AND a part time job as well

can be found at Al Khaleej St., opposite sports corner, near Jaidah Flyover. There's only 1 store selling brand new musical instruments there, and they have guitars, drum sets, elect.organs etc. Of course, If you want second hand, there's another store adjacent to Badriya Restaurant (bin mahmoud st.)
Ladies & Gents, I'm looking for a bass guitar player, we're triying to set up a Rock /Heavy Metal Band,..The missing piece is the bass guitar,..somebody interested?,we're not professional, but we have big plans...pls contact me if so:
I am a piano player and I'll be coming to Doha soon, but I need some info on the prices of new and second hand portable keyboards, because I'll need to practice a lot to stay in form.
I just arrived in Qatar , also used to be in Dubai , i play drums and was wondering if any of these stores sold drum gear , i have also been trying to find a teacher but there dont seem to be any in the music schools.
I checked on the Fender website & found that their distributor in Qatar's ''Music Corner Company'', P.O. Box 30502, tel. 4374586, e-mail: [email protected]
I tried to call them - no answer, I sent them an e-mail, no reply, I sent them a fax - still no reply...
I also looked at a couple of directories, and I found that there's a store called ''Al Najoon Music Store'', tel. 4437215. I called them for directions & I was told they're at Bin Mahmood Street, near the 2nd signal. Haven't been there yet.
Apparently there's a store somewhere in the Diplomatic Area. I'll let you know as soon as i have more info.
Well I found Al Badie Music, just across from Souk Al Jabour, and it wasn't too bad. It was a bit pricier than Dubai, but not by that much. They carry alot of tech stuff (mixing desks, digital recorders, pre-amp pedals) and a mix of instruments. They only seem to have Ibanez guitars, a couple of 5 and 4 string bases. They carry D'darrio string, but a limited selection. They have a full line of Roland guitar amps, and I bought a half decent one, for a price comprable to UAE, but higher than back home (Canada).
Not as bad as I had feared, but not exactly a musicians toy store... but hey, what can we do?
Okay still can't remember the name or number for that shop but at least i got the location now. You want to drive down the road where the Old Emiri Diwan is (Emiri Diwan should be on your left side) towards electricity road. Once you reach the roundabout take a left turn and head straight until you find a mosque with an indian restaurant around the corner (again both should on you left side). There's an intersection just after that restaurant, take a right turn there. If you continue down that road you should find a bank somewhere (left side i think), and that music shop should be 100 meters or so away. There's a "YAMAHA" sign right outside so you can't miss it.
You might also want to visit Al Badei instruments near Clock Roundabout.
I started to worry when I first arrrived, as I thought it was bad in Dubai, but Doha seemed like it had nothing for musicians. But it sounds like there are the odd few places to get at least the necessities.
I know for a fact there's a small shop in the musheireb souq area that sells yamaha musical instruments. It's supposed to be the oldest shops of its' kind in Qatar. Unfortunately I can't seem to remember exactly where it is so i will have to get back to you later.
Will post the number and address as soon as I find them.
Did anyone catch the name of this place? Drove by yesterday, but the place was heaving with cars and getting a good look was tough. I am new to Doha, but desperately want/need guitar string and possibly an amp. Can anyone give me a few more details on finding this place. Sorry to be thick, I just get so frustrated trying to look for anything in that part of town.

Hey folks,
Did anyone catch the name of this place? Drove by yesterday, but the place was heaving with cars and getting a good look was tough. I am new to Doha, but desperately want/need guitar string and possibly an amp. Can anyone give me a few more details on finding this place. Sorry to be thick, I just get so frustrated trying to look for anything in that part of town.
Cheers
H
I drove by this morning. The shop's next to Souq Al Jabor, at the roundabout. It said on the sign it sells Ibanez, Tama etc.
I'm not sure if nightshifter meant Souq Al Jabor. I've put that on the map.
Do you think you could put it on the map? I'm not sure which the Souq al Jaber Roundabout is.
I play (electric) bass. I wish I could learn to play the piano, but I don't have any spare time for that!
I think the International Centre of Music's near The Mall. I found their phone number, in case you want to ask their timings: 4671354
What instruments do you play? I wanna learn the piano in that music centre near the mall.
I'll pass by the store some time soon!
This explains why you even know brands in the Qatari market!
I agree with you on the SG, I like it both in terms of aesthetics & sound.
there is a store I saw today, next to the Souq el jaber roundabout. it is right on the corner.
I think it only opened in the past eight months.
:)
Yes, unfortunately.
I found out when a relative was paying a visit and asked about Gibson.
Ah, the SG... Absolutely awesome riffs.
That's a bit disappointing.
Thanks very much e46M3.
Good luck trying. They don't exist.
Closest you'll find is Yamaha at Modern Home.
