Any1 know of good aeroebics classes here that i could join or perhaps personal trainers. My bondankadonk (behind) is starting to succumb to gravity and I dont want to morph in2 a saggy titted potato anytime soon.
I am looking for a support group for weight loss. I have been on a program- WEIGHLESS (it is almost like weight watchers)- and I know for sure that a program like this works for me. Anyone knows of such a plan in Doha?
The alternative is...I'm going to start one but I would love genuine support from all those that want it.
How it works is- your formula is worked out, the food groups are explained to you. You come in for weekly weigh-ins, you stay for a motivational talk and sharing of weightloss gems.
Anyone up for this?
Bajesus-to answer your question-I found Al massa active- close to Ramada-awesome facilities (okay for Doha standards it is great- i have been to other gyms...mediocre).
My wife has recently arrived here, and she's a certified Bodypump instructor, plus other stuff. She'll be looking to get set up as soon as possible. Watch this space !
were u serious about me babysitting? If u are dont hesitate to email me. I luv kids and Im bored. Ill do it free of charge!! its a win win situation :-D
thx 4 the compliment....I get taken aback by my own moodswings sometimes im starting to think i might have multiple personality disorder! for me i guess its easier to give love than recieve it. Somehow i feel validated that way. Am I making sense?
But it got to the extent that i felt emotionlly drained and I had a meltdown.
Thank god for the anonymity here....it kinda feels cathartic now that I take part in the QL community instead of just being a spectator. It helped a lot.
If I read this thread along with the one you posted in the beginning..it does make some sense..that you feel depressed these days..(Everyone in a mode of depression does eat a lot)...
But If I read your posts there onwards..you hardly come out as a depressed sort of person...In fact your post to Novita in this very thread as a nice looking mom was very nicely written...
So I guess your sense of depression or weight gains hardly gel with your real skills which is good and articulate writing..and your ability to spread happiness around..
Now today evening stay away from your laptop..and run a mile..
Acording to the recent popular content section this thread got 400 recent hits but only 41 ppl took prt in this thread. Am I the only 1 that thinks the QL community needs to be more active in forums?
I have never been so slim! Last time I checked *this morning* I was just under 49kg! Starting to get a little worried, actually...
My trick? Try running around after a todler all day long. From the time she wakes up, 11 ish till the time she goes back to sleep 9ish! That will make you fit
Let me see if I've got this right: you want to lose weight with minimal effort and inconvenience, plan no exercise on your own, and want to keep eating the same diet that has caused you to gain weight. I can't say that sounds very promising.
Losing weight doesn't require "will-power" -- it requires a willing and wanted change in lifestyle. You have to care more about your health and/or appearance than you care about whole milk, fried food, and the Friday buffet at the Ritz. You have to learn (and interalize) a true preference for fruit over chocolate, yogurt over ice cream, grilled over deep-fried. You know (hell, everybody knows) that it can't be a miminal and temporary (i.e., anomalous) change of routine. You can't get two hours of exercise a week and then "reward" yourself with a Happy Meal afterwards. And you can't pay someone to do it for you.

these pills have systemic effect that targets your metabolism if not taken properly can cause morbidity by affecting your heart and breathing, so pls do be very careful when u take them esp if u already have existing heart or lung probs.
for what it's worth, i used to be fat too coz im lazy and i love food so much. i lost weight by not eating anything after 6 pm. i know it sounds preposterous but the logic is if u have nothing to burn from 6 pm up to ur next meal which is breakfast, ur stored fat will be put to use. and yes u can eat anything that doesnt kill you up to 5:59. it works and i still get to eat whatever i want while on d supposed diet. chances are u feel so full by 6 pm, ur ready for bed soon, so ur craving was sated and u can sleep it off. eat lots again during breakfast,u'llneed it anyway for the rest of the day.
Gurl u dont know the have of it. They come to me and dish their dirt and expect me to psychoanalyze them!! it happened one too many times and everytime i grind my teeth hoping they would just go away cuz i mostly stay mum and i hate it when it has to get awkward while all the time thinking to muyself "whats your problem. Do I look like ur grandmama?! I dont get paid for this sh**!" I swear if i have to hear them nag one more time to me there might be some serious b***h slappin goin' on!
You know what kills me is when I know Im not getting my moneys worth. Its hard enough for me as it is to get up and going but when I have to face fat, incompetent instructors that are complaining to me about their living conditions instead of doing what theyre paid to do which is the case more often than not then that just becomes too much for me.
I dont. Its too hot here and I only was fortunate enough to lose a lil weight by leaving for 2 weeks to london. Lol I thought Im one of the most frequent online users on QL was indicative enough that im glued to my pc and not proactiv with my time.
PM:
Ive tried it and the other one too which is called slim center located in an aprt building infront of city centre. Still not much gained except for the weight.
Ive got a number of equipments in my home that almost make up a mini gym but i think theyve been so neglected that i wouldnt be surprised if i found cobwebs on some of them. I guess I just back out at the last moment and lose all enthusiasm I muster beforhand. Curse Dubai for beating us at everything.
I understand what r u saying about the traffic. It is really frustrating driving in Doha. Fortunately i like driving, don't mind stuck a bit in the traffic as far as I am not in a hurry.
I used to come to Al Massa too in the past ... then finding a parking in that area was really a pain. After that i just giving up going there or that area (be it Al Massa, Eli France or any shops around there) all together.
Ritz not too bad ... i like the driving in the west bay area and stack of parking spaces. I went to their classes for over 2 years, till recently they change their manager to a new guy call Christian Davies (i hope he read this :-) ). Then he put priority of the class to the members. Well ... i felt that because i am not a member and paying a small fee then they just want to swept me out under the carpet. Afterall ... money come before everything else isn't it ...???
I putting on aloooot of weight during 6 weeks holidays to the far east. Want to get rid of it ... but it is soooooooo hard ... I love my food, and hard to give it up. lol ... Dont ask me to go to the gym or buying a machines at home. I can't motivate exercising alone. Prefer going to the class and do it together.
Btw, anyone knows the situation in diplomatic club? Do they have class there?
I agree..Weight Loss is a lot of will power and little bit of medication/Gym/diet....I am not much aware of slimming centres in Qatar..I can direct you to many in Dubai...who charge you based on the kilos lost...they force you to operate under their strict supervision...I am not sure if you are keen for a strict diet regime...
I found that an hour of walking works fine for me...
yup it does work and you feel stuffed for a while but pointless if u compensate by binge eating late at night which is what i did and still do. Its best when ur always walking a lot, it accelerates the results. However, a relative of mine used to work at Hamad Hospital and she said that there are risks involved and it is still not decided whether its harmless or not.
I dont want to bother going there as it becomes a hassle with the traffic because as i recall thats what i hated the most. And besides I would make up for all the burned calories by going to mandarine afterwards and ordering a large avocado juice with icecream, nuts, caramel and whipped cream on top :-P my willpower is non existent.
So what are you saying?? Is it worth taking it?? I am just asking to know more about it?? did you take it under supervision...By the way its available in Qatar
If you are really picking up weight fast...Gym alone will not work...you need a mix of medication and workout...I have heard from friends that one particular medicine- Reductil really works well..but you need to see a Physician before you can take it...you should give it a try...I have seen it work on my friends...
throughout the last decade ive been to golds gym, al massa, marriot, ramada, SAS, AlAhli club and non of them worked for me. I find that the staff is unprofessional and not very instructive. Im partly to blame because i have a very negative outlook when it comes physical fitness and most ppl are the same here. However, I still havent lost hope entirely and am willing to try something new. I think I went to almassa near ramada signals last year and the instructors were all filipino.
where do u live? hv u tried Al Massa gym? They have similar class like Ritz with expat trainer (last time was Stacey from the states and can't remember the other ladies name). It was 20 QR per classes if u buy 10 classes in one go. Then 25 QR if you pay per visit.
Haven't heard about private instructor. Will let u know if i know someone :-)
appreciate ur help. But I was thinkin of something that could cost less since it would turn out more than 300 QR if i go for say 10 classes . Also, its impractical for me since its too far away and Im very lazy. Arent there any private instructors around in Doha? Id prefer to excercise within the vicinity of my home.
i used to go to Body Pump / Body Sculpting in Ritz Carlton. They have mexican instructor Eric, and rumanian instructor Simina. Both are very good.
They take non member for 35 QR per classes. Nowadays non-member only allow to book 24 hrs in advance, most of the time the class is full :-(. They might putting a new class next month, so more alternatives timing to go.
