official things needed for filipino housemaid??

Are there any filipino housemaids or employers out there who did not use the 'agency' system.
I am bringing in a lady, and want to know if anyone is familiar with the system as it is right now.
I know there have been changes re; requirements, so would like to know if anyone has brought someone in directly from scratch without going thru the agencies, and what it involved.
thanks,

thanks guys... we're working on it.

Seems there is a format for direct hire..so we're following that route.

thanks for the info anyway.

will the filipina be coming from the Philippines? if so, I understand that it is a requirement of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration that everyone leaving the country to work abroad be represented by an agency, otherwise, they will not issue an OEC (Overseas Employmet Certificate). if she doesn't get that, she won't get past the airport gate. this is done due to the rising number of reports of filipino domestic helpers being maltreated by their employers, and thus serves as a safety net for them.

I know this because a friend of mine was hired directly by Hyatt Hotel in Dubai, she was already at the airport when she was stopped by the security personnel, was asked for her OEC. when she failed to show them one, she was asked to go to the POEA office. there she was advised that she had to go through an agency. this was two weeks ago.

We did it but not recently.

You need to submit a letter from the sponsor addressed to immigration, for both spouses if both spouses work.

You'll need photocopies including residence permit for all family members including kids.

Copy of marriage contract.

Then you submit the application for a maid/nanny visa at immigration (get the from them) and include above documents.

If they reject the appilcation first-time resubmit. They often reject it first-time. Once you have the approval from the emplyment visa committee you can apply for the lady's visa.

Once you have the visa you go to the Philippines Embassy. They don't like doing it but if you're nice they'll help you with the formalities. They prefer to deal with the agencies. They'll draw up a contract which you have to sign, then transfer it to their labor office who approve it. You can then send that to Manila where your maid/nanny has to register it with the labor department. She should've undergone a medical there by that time.

Then send her the PTA.
