Finger Printing

Hello e'one,

I am in the process of accepting an offer with Qatar Airways but I wanted to get information about the finger printing.

How important is it to have the finger prints before you start work. I found out that it takes 150 days if done through the RCMP. Can I start work and wait for the clearance to come?

  1. Is there anyone from Canada on the list that has done this
  2. Where did you do it? I am currently on a Visit visa in the UAE
  3. How long did it take to get your fingerprints
  4. Did you do them through the RCMP or your provincial police

Thanks to all

Once your employer decide they want you they will process a work visa entitling you to enter the country for that purpose.

Sometime after arrival, depending on how diligent the employer is, the residence permit procedure begins which includes the medical and fingerprinting/police registration process. In the meantime you will have begun work.

You can come here on a vistors visa and just fly to Bahrain or Dubai every 14 to 21 days to get it renewed, than go about the process here which can be quicker.

I know they will definately have to wait but can I get a temporary work visa and get my residence permit once the clearance arrives.

Thanks again for your quick response.

They want you to get your permit before you come to Qatar? If thats the case than they will have to wait.

How long ago did you do it? Qatar Airways has asked me to do. I have started the process but the wait is too long(according to the RCMP web site, it takes 150 days to get it done).

Yes the finger prints are required to process my residence permit.

Thanks all.

And the obligatory medical including what our 5-year-old calls an xth-tray.

I got mine done when I came here. If Qatar Airways becomes your sponsor they will arrange all that stuff, no need to bother with the RCMP.

As this involves the Mounties, over to you.

Katraf, do you mean the fingerprinting to get the Qatari residence permit?
