Hi all

I am hoping for some help here, I am travelling to Doha next Monday for an interview with Qatar Air in the Marketing Dept, for middle management role

My UK salary (gross) is about £37k per annum, exl bonus & benefit (health/pension)

What kind of salary should I be aiming for???

Basic salary

Housing

Other allowance

My personal situation is married, with no kids.

My wife is French and doing office job in UK at the moment but a Qualified French Teacher as well, would she be able to get a job in Qatar in either Teaching or office/admin?

Your input would be much appreciated

Save it from that horrible fate that awaits all those that dare venture into the labyrinthine wilderness of these tracks...

Not neccessarily, this is a great place to find work. Average salary for a teacher is between 6,000 and 8,000 QR, but that can go up depending on her qualifications. It's not tons, but my Moms salary is what my parents live off of (granted I buy a lot of their food and they use MY car whenever they want) and they save my Dad's.

Yes she'd be local, salary lower, no benefits like housing, annual tickets, etc.

thanks are for the vote of confidence re possibility of finding work for my wife, she is a bit worried about sitting at home and doing expat coffee mornings with other expat wifes everyday so she would really like assurance of good chance finding employment.

I presume she would be considered "local" and not "expat" in that case, as I would be the main breadwinner/expat and therefore her salary would be accordingly...low???

My mother was a soccer coach too. And a rugby coach briefly.

Cool. I was a soccer coach in the US, ages ago now.

My mother will be teaching Lebanese children the finer points of basketball and soccer at the school starting in August, so the least I can do is find her a co-worker E46. Also try Qatar International. Whatever you do, tell her under no circumstance to work at Doha Academy unless she enjoys working in hell.

Recruiting for us, dohagirl?

That's nice.

She can also try Doha College but I suggest she email them now. Website www.dohacollege.com

Well with current exchange rate and taking into account tax 37k is about 15,000 a month.

I would ask for that as basic and then housing on top.

18 to 20k and you'll be better off than home

She shouldn't have a problem getting a teaching position. She should try the Lebanese school.
