Single? stop whinging

OK.. thats it... i would like to propose that all us single people (and alone married people) do something about this. The biggest problem we have is finding other similar people to just hang out with.

Is anyone interested in forming some kind of cooperative :) ? there must be loads of us out there who would welcome the company of like minded people to just have coffee with... maybe a shopping partner....

I am willing to host a ice breaking gathering if theres enough interest.

Its about time we stopped whinging about it and did something constructive.

i suggest us guys should meet over a few beers (soft drinks for those who dont indulge). As i said, i dont have a problem hosting it if theres any interest. I really dont expect any of the ladies to be interested but if any are, they are most welcome.

This is just an opportunity for people to meet others having something in common. This is NOT meant to be an opportunity to pick up a date (thats why i suggested guys only).

Anyway, if safwany's efforts are anything to go by, im not expecting a stampede. i just thought it would be a good idea.

Where Can I find a female for a date out here?

I'm against meeting people on line. The good thing about forums and blogs is that you are "unknown". Think is a very bad idea...

Having said that, I met a girl thru this forum and we have become good friends ever since :)

From my experience, a lot of people get cold feet with these internet forum meetings as the big date approaches. C'mon people, life is too short!

MoonBeam I don't understand what you tryed to say when you wrote "Giasi,

Your intentions are noble............... but take a look at Blacklions last post and you will see this is not feasible. Social gathering yes, but cooperative, no."

Can you help me to understand what you tryed to explain?

You only saw the comments here not the emails I got :)

Only two guys agreed and I asked them to confirm this by wedensday and they didn't, also this made me little disapointed cause I thought the gathering will be much more than two, thats why I had to cancel the meeting.

But Safwany it was u who cancelled ur own gathering. There were a couple of guys who said they'd go but u were the one who posted a message canceling because there weren't enough people interested. You had 2 guys interested, I mean, if someone wants to meet new people, then at least one is enough, right? So why cancel? I'm just curious, that's all :)

teddygirl - I have no clue what you mean. Could you please elaborate?

Yes Easy,

I tried to make some gathering but it didn't succeed, I am interesting about the idea very much but mostly the other people get excited in the begining and loose it before the gathering date and I really don't know why...

There was a number of forums calling for qatarliving members gathering. Did any of these gatherings take place?

I would suggest QatarLiving opens up a separate section for personals, for those who are truly single (body and soul), who are looking for a partner say for tennis, shopping (as one person suggested), going out for croissants and french coffee, walking the dog, cleaning off the sand from your radiator, etc.

HI, GIASI ACTUALLY IT'S GOOD IDEA

but make sure those singles but married ones get

their permission frm the partner before they do the

gathering to prevent problem in their own personal life later...

hope u understand what i'm trying to tell u guys..make sure enjoy the gathering without any problems in future,.

:) Okay.

You see, in cyberspace it's easy to misunderstand. :)

Point taken.

Moonbeam.. my "cooperative" remark was just tongue in cheek. I have no desire to change the country, i was merely proposing a solution to a problem that alot of singles have here in qatar, socialising with like minded people.

I think it's an idea that can be developed. Having the first gathering is important and then there could other activities such as camping (the weather is gorgeous),sports ... etc.

Lets open the discussion and get all suggestions.

Giasi,

Your intentions are noble............... but take a look at Blacklions last post and you will see this is not feasible. Social gathering yes, but cooperative, no.

Do not disillusion yourself in trying to change the country. Let it go. It is for Qataris to do, not expats.
