Qatar Airways Certainly Sucks
Few months back I write about Qatar Airways being not an EEO Company and there were floods of comments. Some good others are just trolls who like to create discord in this forum.
Not long after that thread of mine instead of thinking we would never hear from Qatar Airways anymore, the HR person called us. We were on holiday in Phuket, Thailand. QA offered a higher salary by 25% than the original.
But by then my girl received a full scholarship plus monthly allowance of Singapore Dollars 3,000 per month to do her PhD at the National University of Singapore. So naturally, she turned that offer down as she received a better offer from NUS. By the age of 27, she'll carry a "Dr" in front of her name, inshaa Allah.
Today this is what I read at Doha News and I was laughing my head off reading the title of this news. The title is: Union: Qatar Airways ‘the worst’ among Gulf carriers for employees’ rights.

This include offering very low salary to those who holds nationality from ASEAN and other Asian nations. It's not what you know and how skill you are but it's what is your nationality and let's pay them according to their nationality not their skill.
u got the point..
I always wonder about such posts..
No one forces us to work for them. It's all about supply and demand. People are bending over backwards to work for QA - even with the so called paltry benefits and salary.
I wonder ed94387, who are the majority employee especially the support staffs at QA? When my daughter was offered the position of a Senior Software Engineer, her interviewers and the HR person who contacted her are all from India.. Does that mean anything at all, I wonder..
check who's majority in QA there...
It also depends on the way the person negotiated their salary package before working in any organization there. Be it QP, RG etc.
Yes Gene, you are right. Although, I must admit that many finds working in the Middle East better than their own country of origin. The EU is facing so much unemployment that definitely lucrative to just relocate to the Middle East as long as they hold a good post and the salary is good because of their nationality.
In fact, her friend who was originally from Pakistan but holds an American citizenship (family must have moved to the US) receives QAR 16,000 per month. I wonder why not work in the USA because that's where the ICT boom would be happening. Then I realized that racial discrimination is the reason why; with QAR 16,000 per month - very comfortable there.
qp...no ur wrong..it is a very flexible company to work :)
As long as it is populated by a dominant Asian Country in its workforce, you can never get a better salary there and I think QP is almost in the same situation (pardon me if I am wrong).
SGD 3,000 is about QAR 8,704 per month. QA offered a basic salary of QAR 5,856 initially; then called again to offer her QAR 7,300. Naturally, my gal prefers to continue her education. Better to finish off her paper chase while still young; being able to skip her Masters and go straight to a PhD program is definitely a fantastic opportunity.
At that time, someone also refuted the education she received at Carnegie Mellon University-Qatar; saying that the education is not equivalent to the one in the main campus. However, if you look at her degree, you'd never know she studied at the Qatar campus. And to receive a full scholarship from NUS shows that the degree is of same quality as in USA.
a good news, a good fortune always come to the right people. anyway I enjoy flight with Qatar Airways
Nice drama by the OP
Yeah, that's true. And my daughter chose not to work for QA; but as passengers, we have no complains. Good service but I prefer Emirates than QA though.
..You should keep in mind that people don't have that choice out here or where Emirates and Ethihad are based
One can always choose not to work for any company, and I personally find QA a good airline from a passenger point of view.
..the ladies are good looking and very efficient too but they just like everywhere around the world need to be able to air their grievances sometimes and need to be listened to. They just cannot be made to work as robots and neither can the others around this places. All this five star airlines and businesses are nothing without the hard work of the people who work for them
Qatar Airways is great, love their first and business class and the ladies that serve me are good looking too. (Plus very friendly ;-)
That's the system in all GCC countries. You can't blame them for a payroll per nationality. Plus the Qatari Labour Law doesn't make it any better for the employees either, since many companies exploit it(NOC, not paying salaries on time, take it or leave it policies etc..). In a way, a payroll based on the GDP is logical and makes sense. A European person would not come to this country to get paid just 3000$.
i love qatar airways
