Loydence Academy
Hi everyone!
We'll be moving to Doha from Australia sometime in Sept/Oct and from the stories i have heard about schools i am very freaked out.
DS is 3.5 years old and i have been exploring options online for the schools in Qatar. Can anyone tell me if Loydence Academy in Al-Aziziya is good?
I sent an email to them and they replied that they are undergoing expansion and would have places available in the primary section. I wanted to put in an application straight away but they said i should wait until we get there.
I am very freaked out about DS's schooling. Can anyone please give suggestions or feedback?
p.s i have heard its impossible getting into Doha College or Doha British School so thats why i was looking at other options.
Hi there we moved here from Oz too last August...a horrendous and incredibly stressful experience with schools for sure....this year finally kids have spaces in doha college for Sept 2013 but been a rough and very chaotic ride...
Can't assure u it's going to be easy...loydence is. Small villa and of course for the cost its ridiculously expense but its better than paying double that at the new american school and getting nothing for that while waiting for the right place,..and your little one is in preschool so jsuT relax and keep trying for next year and u will be fine...good luck..hope u have your housing sorted cos that's another fight as well..
Drop me a line if u have questions
As long as you take the time in Loydence as a transition period, it is fine. Most of the expat parents do that. As your kid will be a preschooler, it is a good class and the teacher is good. Its from our experience as we had our kids there.
well.. there's no guarantee of getting admission anywhere actually bcoz good schools are less.. the admission process starts in december here when most schools start accepting applications for the new term starting in september.. all schools follow the same pattern where priority is given to nationals first, then siblings follow and after that, it's first-come first-serve basis.. from what i've heard, loydence academy is a good school.. if the school is accepting applications at this time which is rare, go ahead and apply.. don't wait.. u can try visiting the schools to follow up on your applications once you're here.. good luck!!
