HOUSING ALLOWANCE
Hi Everyone! I would like to ask how housing allowance is given to employees? If an employee for example is given a 10k housing allowance and was able to get a house for only 7k, would the company give the balance?
Also, how does do you pay for your housing? Do you pay upfront? Can we request amount to be paid from employer?
Any feedback on this would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
Thanks so much guys! Will do check on HR on how their policy.
depends on your company, 1st check with your HR dept, if they are paying the landlord directly you get nothing.. but if they provide you the allowance on monthly with your salary then its up to you... the cheaper the flat the more you save..all the best
they might give you monthly housing allowance together with your salary not yearly.
It depends on the employer - I've had employers who pay the landlord directly, nothing went in my pocket.
Better to ask the employer what their policy is rather than relying on people employed elsewhere.
Thanks guys!
So all you need to do is ask the allowance from your employer amounting to whole year of rent and they will give it to you? With that, whatever balance you may get, is yours right? No question from employer whatsoever on whether your house rental is smaller that the given housing allowance?
yes it will be on your pocket
excess from your housing allowance is your benefit...
Obviously you can't get the balance, your company is giving that amount of QR10,000 as maximum rent allowed. Bill payment from your employer to your accommodation is through by your contract with the flat/ villa owner.
I get more allowance as where I rent for,. the rest goes in my pocket ;)
you pay rent "upfront" by pre signed checks for a year
