Irish Harp Doha

Hey,

Im new in Doha, just moved here from the UK. I've been told to check out the Irish Harp Doha since there are a lot foreigners there apparently and it would be easy to make friends. I wanted to check it out yesterday, but I left work late. I was wondering what are the best days to go there? Does friday evening still have a good atmosphere in there?

Luthiene, yes, it is only for women, but they might be able to point you in the right direction.

The Marhaba book is a book that gives all kinds of info on Qatar...included on what is happening...to an extent.

ah...sorry, got it from the Marhaba Book. Try to go to some Hispanic restos or bars...check with the hotels, there are several in Qatar.

And get yourself the Marhaba Book, there you find a lot of info.

Good luck.

May I just intercede and say that many women are attracted to older Brits with beer bellies :O)

Try Trader Vics at the Hilton or Belgian Cafe at the Intercon.

Well, no, I am not interested in old brits with beer bellies looking for fresh meat. Just want to make friends with a young crowd, between 21-30 years of age.

The concorde hotel is close by to where I live, I might check in there tonight to see if there's anything going on. Any other suggestions?

How do I find this spanish speaking community? The only spanish I've heard since I arrived in Doha a month ago was at the Spanish Embassy.

I've already tried people at work, they didn't seem very enthused about the idea of going to a pub. Maybe coz they dont drink, maybe they dont approve of frequenting those places, or simply coz they're cheapskates.

The Irish Pub as it is known is ok and if drunk Irish construction workers with three teeth are your thing then any night is good. On a Thursday and Friday night Lebanese men pose around the dance floor trying and failing to pick up western women. Plus the usual Asian women hanging off the arms of Brits twice their age.

However the service is good

Well, if you like old brits with beer bellies looking for fresh meat...then yes, go there.

there are bars in all the major hotels, try some of those.

Other than that, I'd say talk to your work colleagues, they may be able to advise you. (Unless they go to the Harp :P )

There is a large Spanish speaking community here in Qatar, hook up with them.
