Who is Responsible- Nokia Dealer or Retailer
I would Like to share an Terrible Experiance Involving Consumer Protection with QL members..
Bought an Nokia Mobile from "Techno Galleries"-(Retail Shop in Fashion Asia Mall)& found that product was defective(SIM Card NOT recognized)on the same day.
As a first step visited CGC- Nokia Care in Mirqab street, after checking the system they told that product was not covered by Warrenty, hence need to pay for the service, on enquiry found that they need to change the complete Mother board (Cost equivalent to new Mobile) but advised to return the product to the shop where it is purchased.
While visiting the "techno Galleries" where i had purchased, the guy seems not to bother very much about the compliant of the defective product he sold, even after several visits, finally refused plainly that it is Nokia's Fault and for that he cannot be penalised.
During Conversation i told him if he is not willing to replace/repair the product i would approach "Consumer Protection dept"-for that he is arrongantly replying that he is in this bussiness for several years from now & had seen many such helpless customers in the past.
It is not about the Money that i Lost, But feeling so Helpless as a consumer, Who never used the product, but had to suffer so much abuse from retailer & also from the manufacturer who just denies their responsibility to compensate for the defective product.
what would be next Logical step.. whom to Blame?..
Good one TP... totally agree. People should stop being push overs... if you dont demand.. nobody will do it on your behalf.
Common guys, we need to show some support. This is Qatar and we all face similar issues every now and then. Yes, I agree, go to the customer complain dept and the economic dept and complain that they are selling damaged goods. ask the dept for a formal complain receipt to ensure they have logged the complain....they would then send a notice or visit ordering him to exchange your phone or they may fine the shop or maybe even close the outlet. Other than that...never buy without written warranty/gurantees. Good luck
THis is a very simple case. You should have returned it to the store the same day for a full refund. The law says that as long as you have a receipt you can exchange any product within 14 days of purchase and some products within 30 days of purchase. If you have receipt you can go to consumer protection agency and file a complain. Also you can call them.. their number is posed in every shop.
The trick here is that I think the retailer waited on purpose for 14 days before telling you off, so he thinks he is off the hook. but I dont think so. especially if you had someone with you during your visits to retailer... you should definitely stand for your rights. because if you dont..nobody will
maybe they sell used phones or defective phones that why he doenst care. Should go to consumer dept and complain take the recepit.
maybe techno galleries is not an authorized dealer of CGC. that is the reason why you mobile is not covered by CGC warranty. maybe techno galleries bought it outside qatar. you can file a complain address to the techno galleries.
go to consumer department and file your complaint. make sure you have the receipt with you.
