Are any schools still taking students?

I recently received a job offer at Qatar University and am looking for school(s) for my kids, ages 9/12/13/16.

Many of the schools appear to be full at this point.

In addition, our sixteen-year-old is bright and tests well, but his grades aren't that good, so we're worried he might not be accepted. What to do?!

is to MAKE SURE the school is accredited. Otherwise, universities in the US will not accept the transcript. It won't matter for the younger children, but for the older one I would work to get him into an American system school. If not ASD, then ACS, International School of London or George DeBakey. I know ASD is accredited, but don't know about the other. Otherwise I would consider homeschooling through the K-12 program. Apply for ASD as in the upper grades, it is much easier to find places.

Thank you for these suggestions. We are coming from the U.S. Does it matter if the younger kids are in a British system?

Above is the website for Newton British School. There are 4 0r 5 schools named as Newton but they are NEWTON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS and the only British School amongst them is Newton British School and by far the best. My daughter has been going to this school for 2 yrs now and she is very happy there.

Hope this helps.

Now a days it s mandatory to have Resident Permit for kids to apply for any school. Your case is just in pipe line. First you have to be with Qatar University, then apply for your kids visa, which will be taking a lot of time now... You may able to apply for many schools before they reopen by Sept 2013, but should have Resident permit for kids.
