Hi everyone,

I have job offer from Al Awadi Group and I will be handling their La Pomme Haute Couture Shop.

I am a fashion designer for over 7 years, 2 years working experience in Oman and 2 years working experience in New York. I have an outstanding portfolio and resume. It gives my overall expertise and experience in the field, and proficiency background which stand as facts to my preliminary qualifications providing sufficient grounds of my adeptness.

They offered me this:
USD$ 1200 basic salary
USD$ 500 food allowance
3% monthly turnover (3% of monthly sales of the Tailoring Shop)
5% tash textile (another company of them selling fabrics that I can have 5% of every sales to my clients)
accomodation
transportation
21 days leave/year
8 working hours/day

Is it worth it and acceptable offer?

thank you in advance for the insights!

Having NYC experience should get you more money. I think it all depends on your commission. If I were you I would try to negotiate some more options like:

making basic salary more and less commission. You need to be making at least 20,000 qr per month, otherwise it is really not worth it for you.

Let's put it this way. If you don't take the job, someone will.

It's is very unlikely that the company will offer you more unless you are in high demand. You have to bear in mind that the company can easily get interested candidates from your home country (Philippines) who will jump at the opportunity.

Just imagine how many people from PI are here earning less than your basic even with university degrees.

You decide for yourself.

.Well the salary is low and commission is after u achieve it and it depends on various other Parameters like achieving your target and stuff . Well with regards to the cost of living its way too high here and the salary they are offering you based on ur caliber is low . Well Are they providing a NOC just in case u Dont like the job to switch to something good later ?? check with them ??

Al Awadi group is the owner of Tash Haute Couture Textiles, Chopin, La Pomme Couture, Rendezvous Club, Segafredo. Ring a bell to you guys who are there?

Sounds like a good company. I am half filipino and half chinese/spanish. I am not a westerner, I'm Asian.

If you have experience in New York, I assume that you are a westerner. You would be the least paid westerner in Qatar at that salary! If they offered you that little, then you would probably have terrible accommodation as well.

Not a bad offer since it is a basic offer, the only thing that u have to concern about the company sales & marketing status, btw don't miss the good chances.

As a Western, the offer is so cheap. Commissions and other add on depends and is fluctuating in a monthly basis.

Hiring in the middle east and the gulf states depends on your country of Origin. Therefore, you should be asking for more.

Basic should be at least QR 15,000.00 or USD 4,000.00.

It is better to be a slave in your own country than of someone else's.

Negotiate for more .. . . .

just calculate approx how much commission you can make, based on the current sales or your experience on your previous jobs. if all together its less than 20,000 its not good. commission is not only depends on your efforts but no. of customers visiting shop too.

6205 QR per month + Commission + Accommodation and Transportation is not bad.

Try to ask more..

Good luck.
