The Ministry of Interior has introduced Metrash 2, offering more services which can be availed of through the ministry’s electronic platform and providing the country’s residents the freedom of meeting their requirements “at any time and anywhere in the world”

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, Metrash 2, an upgraded version of its popular Metrash initiative, offers Traffic Department services and a host of others, including visit visas for personal and corporate sponsorships, residence permits (RP), exit permits (EP), electronic gate (eGate) and general queries.

The services can be availed of at any time and from anywhere in the world. The requirements for using the services are that the applicant must have a valid Smart ID card and the mobile number should be registered under the applicant’s name.

Go have go to Immigration Office at Gharaffa.

Then any typing centre and request for the form for Smart ID card. They will create two forms in Arabic (They might charge you 10 Qr for this). If you want e-gate facility, don't forget to ask them to include that in the form.

Next, take these signed forms to Gate 1, where you have to go to the retinal scan area. Here the machine will take your retina scan, take an electric finger print of both index fingers, ask you to do a electronic signature and also take a photo.

Next go to the reception and get a token for the Smart ID counter. At the counter they will charge you for the ID card and ask you to wait till your new ID card is ready. That's it!!

You will only need your old Qatar ID Card. Just to be on the safe side, do carry your passport with valid Qatar RP.

Once you get the Smart Card, there is a kiosk at the entrance of Gate 1 where you need to activate the Smart Card for e-Gate and e-Gov Services. It wouldn't work without this activation.

The Ministry of Interior has made smart ID cards available for expatriates, allowing holders to access various government services, including the renewal of driving licenses and residence permits.
