Project manager banking salary?

Hi All,

In preliminary talks with a bank in Qatar for a Project Manager position, and they are hinting at a salary of around QAR 32,000(all inclusive) + medical & airline tickets.

I will be moving there from Dubai where I'm already earning AED 20,000 + medical+tickets. My profile is with 5+ years of banking experience, already working as a Project manager with both a Bachelors & Masters degree from the UK, and a PMP qualification as well.

I would be requiring a a 2BR flat in a good area & purchase of a new car, and have a wife and 2 year old kid(not school-going yet as the bank emphasised!)

Should I ask for more considering life in Qatar is much more restrictive & unattractive than Dubai and I would only be moving for the money?

Thanks in advance guys.

Good point marycatherine...I had been pondering it as well because the idea I got from them is they will offer an all inclusive package which at this point would obviously not include child education..clever them!....does anyone know if Qatari banks as a HR policy(above a certain pay grade) cover a percentage of children education costs..or do they provide some annual amount based on reimbursement?

My current bank provides for example starting AED 25,000 annual child education allowance above a certain paygrade but only on reimbursment.

Then it is a fine to leave Dubai.

You will be getting 50% increase and a new pasture plus a new country / company for experience.

Seems interesting to me. Hope for more better future while in Qatar.

And when the child needs school is the bank going to cover those fees? You want that in your contract now not relying on someone's promise.

To be honest, you should think once again to settle down here. Don't know about Dubai though in Qatar the bank jobs r not secured at all. I'm also a banker with 3 years experience. No growth in the business, promotions etc. People get hired with high salaries and within no time they get offboard due to Qatarization. If ur job in Dubai is secure you shouldn't be thinking of coming here. But ya if I was you, I would also avail this chance after all its about earning good money in the end.
