i am considering moving to Doha as a cabin crew member for Qatar airways and i am interested in some things..I would be looking to live outside of company accommodation with my wife and i am interested in rent prices..so we would need a small furnished apartment..bathroom, kitchen and one bedroom. How much money should we need for something like that? And second, am i right assuming that i would be getting paid 2000-3000 QR a month? As far as my wife is considered, she can work as an industrial or a graphic designer, so i would like to know approximately how much is that paid in Doha?

Thank you!

Hi,

This is a wonderful opinion. The things mentioned are unanimous and needs to be appreciated by everyone.

if the offer is round QR10k, then i suggest you accept the offer, if you are planning to bring your wife, check first with QA if they will allow you to live outside their accommodation, if so, with your salary assuming its 10k, you can sponsor your wife to come here. if less than QR7.5k, you can still bring her here through a family visit visa, which requires a lesser salary bracket, but this is only good for 6 months, better if she could find an employer who could sponsor her. for your question as regards your wife having a job here and the salary for graphic designers...seldom do i see them posted in the classified ads, but there are some companies that offer that job, the salary is dependent on your wife's experience and whether the company is big or not...me est. is roughly 6k above....

I have been in Doha for 3 months and find it terribly expensive!! We were in Bahrain for a year and there it is a little cheaper. If u want to come to the Middle East, try getting a job there rather.

We were thinking of finding her a job as well, so i won't be sponsoring her..only thing is: if we cannot find a job for here by internet, she will come to Qatar and HOPEFULLY find a job. She is an industrial designer/graphic designer..does anybody know something about that line of work..I mean, is it relatively easy to find a job in that line of work? Trust me, i am(we are) going nowhere before thinking everything out. Again, thanks for all your posts!

marco, your wife cannot just come here and live here because you guys decided so. First, as Mandi suggested, check with QR whether you will be allowed to live out of their accommodation. Second, if your BASIC salary (before accommodation) less than 7,500 you won't be able to sponsor your wife, therefore she cannot come here.

Is your status defined as a family status or a single one, in the first place?

Before planning / dreaming, check all these points...

Check it out thoroughly, Marko, QR isn't Emirates. They are much stricter with their FAs. Hope it works out.

My wife hasn't got a job offer, but if we decide to move, she will be looking for something..If not like that, than she will start looking for job upon coming to Qatar..

The thing about living outside accommodation: I was already accepted to work for Emirates in Dubai but that was put on hold due to economy crisis. There i must stay in company accommodation for the first 6 months and then i can leave to live on my own.Thank you for your advices :)))

so has your wife got a job offer? or what's going on?

can you express yourself clear?

otherwise we don't know what exactly we are discussing...

you know what, the question was: should I stay or should I go? so my opinion is : STAY

Marko, check and see if cabin crew can live off-base while working for QR. I'm not sure about that.

my mistake....2000-3000 is not a monthly salary..

I;m guessing around 10k and my wife's salary approx. 10-12k.. +a housing allowance..so the story starts again..sorry bout mistake!

A Cabin crew salary would range from 7-10k a month n bnot less.. so i guess he's talking about the housing allowance m not 2 sure...

forget it dude, stay where you are...a package like that can't possibly support the 2 of you even if she does work.

are you getting 2000-3000 as a housing allowance or as a total package??

if it's your total package, you cannot bring your wife here, unless she finds a job independently. And also i doubt you would be allowed to sponsor her due to your job title .
