Hi Folks !

Will be moving to Doha soon and would appreciate any UP-DATED views/comments on life in 'compounds'.

We will arrive with employment contract and have 15000 QAR to spend on housing.

Have pretty much decided on apartment or compound life due to security/swiming pool/ facillities /other similar people around etc. We have one baby.

So would be gratefull for any fresh views on apartment or componds to look out for - or to avoid. Standards of maintenance and general good feeling and willing to assist.

I do not want to save any money on my housing allowance.

Would prefer to spend all and live in comfort/peace. Would even cosider paying all on rent and paying bills myself.

Thanks in advance for any any comments/guidance.

You have first to decide where you will live, try to get it as close as possible to your place of work as the traffic here in Doha is a major factor. Just to give you an idea, you can find a nice 4 bedrooms villa in a compound in the Old Airport area for 13-14k.
