Ezdan - the horror -

Are in tower 4

So they weren't able to fix a phone in a month, well first it didn't work at all then you could make calls now its dead again, then the guy or get a plug for the kithcen sink or replace the bathroom one that some weirdo had stabbed a hole in it, in a month either. Ended up acquiring one from the sinks in reception.

Have had random fire alrams going off

Water leaking out of shower and behind sink, took about week to fix, enough that when i came home at end of day it was making its way outside the flat. The tile was broken around the drain hole so loads water must be going through to the underfloor.

Multiple complaints to front desk and that useless woman.

Last straw was big fat cockroach, so kicked up massive fuss and were able to get moved, but was same floor just other side. A new tenant was coming that day who was going to be going into it - so god knows where they got put!!

They haven't got a clue, its seems so much money, supposadly its the new owners who are just interested in money not service. They always saying they completly booked when u ask to move rooms, but i can believe that!!!! I have stayed at somerset appartments in vietnam and atleast there you get washing powder, teatowels, cloth etc.

Anne, owner of Ezdan is Emir's brother. My friends leaving soon to new apartment, lose deposit. They get shock by dish washing machine, tired from cockroach, water leak everywhere, elevator door dont close, ac no good, fire alarm always go off, telephones ring middle of night, now smell from cigar from other apartment so strong in bedroom! Now they close garbage shute, garbage piles in hallway by elevator. All for QR11000!

Lol Risks

Im just annoyed at the costs vs quality, i have worked in seven countries in africa and also vietnam in asia, and have stayed in much cheaper and far superior quality places.

I think for 11,000 I should expect at least the basics.

In addition as soon as you have moved in you cant break your contract unless you can prove your visa has been cancelled and then they still take your deposit, ie one months rent.

Try AlFardan Real Estate...I am satisfied with their management/maintenance in Al Sadd Residence (behind Children Emergency Hosp)...bit noisy around and uneducated tenants, but it has to be a risk also here...So, FYI, it's 11.500 QR/2 bedroom apartm.,you can call the Help Desk at 420.88.78, Mr.James Chan-Director/Property Management.Good luck!

So my colleague come out for a fortnight and we have to move him twice. Bizarelly he came home to a guy in his bathroom coming to fix the drain even though he'd not actually complained about it, the later his bathroom flooded with foul water bubbling up from the drain while he had a shower.

forgot to add earlier getting electric shocks off the dishwasher when first went to use it. Called maintenance they came cut moulded plug off the end of the washer and put a three pin on. 'Fixed'

Reminds me they still not come to unlock safe from last person who was in the appartment.

Its a shame but from talking to different guests you will only get moved if you make a big fuss otherwise it'll be six months if you do nicely nicely.

Can any one give recommendations and costs for other places. As stuck in contract here for couple more months.

I know that this is Qatar, but we should not have to live in a hole....Especially with the rent's we pay! There are I'm sure very good landlords, but there are also many unscrupulous one's.How about trying to improve things here and making Qatar a country that works and will stand up to the test of time?

have a friend in Ezdan with a multiplying cockroach issue and she's having a heck of a time getting them to move her but she's really quiet and maybe not keeping up a big enough stink:) Our landlord sucks as well..brand new building literally falling apart and where is the landlord and his "on site" maintenance team...well, there aren't any. Everything leaks, drips, has a hole in it, doesn't work at all, etc. We had to get a handyman in last week, costs us 1000 QR to get the trim hammered down properly and to keep the ac unit from falling down on our heads. If that isn't bad enough...they're digging up the lot next door and every night around midnight 6 big trucks come to take it all away...fantastic. But, true enough, it's Qatar, land of the temporary everything where for a huge amount of money, you can live in danger hoping your ceiling doesn't collapse while you sleep.

That was a good vent...thanks folks!

But it's not all "Qatar", Alexa. My landlord is wonderful! He's responsive and even pro-active! Yes, a few things have gone wrong because of the cheap fittings and fixtures but he's always been right on top of everything and so eager to please it's embarrassing. Mashaállah! He even personally spent several hours recently making sure our maid had a satellite channel in her own language.

I may not pay taxes here, but I sure as hell pay alot of rent. What protection do you think I get as a landlord? Bugger all as it's all for the tenants.I guess you've been out of the UK for so long now that you don't know what the law is anymore.By the way, in Scotland we are require to register with our local authority. This is so that unscrupulous landlords are accountable for they properties.

For all the "protection" you get in the UK you pay taxes. How much do you pay here?

Shocking rents and we still get S**T...As a landlord,we would never get away with this in the UK.Our tenants back home get everything fixed the minute they tell us or our agent.Tenants here should have rights and there should be a governing body to over see such greedy owners.Let's petition the government.....as I'm in for a good fight.
