Dubai expat to transfer in Qatar, needs help

Hi all,

Been living in UAE now for more than 5 years now, recently I was offered a job in Qatar, have heard many things about Qatar like its more expensive there or more strict and all.

So I want to make best of it during my stay in Qatar, will it be almost like Dubai? or will it be very different?

Is it more expensive in Dubai or Qatar, what are the big difference on each  place?

Is the weather in Qatar worst or better?

I have been offered a humble amount of 7000 dirhams, and I have to take care of my own accomodation, any suggestions where I can find a good place?

I am really excited but at the same time a bit nervous, should I be?

Im a Filippino and I would like to find friends of my fellow compatriots, is there a place there like SATWA here in Dubai, where all my compatriots gather?

thanks Guys!

You can find many filipinos here and like Dubai, the weather is hot.

What I can say as big difference between Dubai and Doha is that Malls here is for Family only during week end. Traffic is also less in Doha.

In my opinion, Doha, Qatar is far much better than Dubai.. the culture here is more conservative and Filipinos here are more friendly than those in UAE.. I have worked in UAE a few years back and I noticed that Filipinos there are snobbish maybe because they have personal reasons why they acted that way, perhaps they want to hide their hidden activities (illicit affairs) and not to be noticed by their fellow kabayans... though there are also couples here who do the same things but very few and not as rampant as there in Dubai... The best thing in Qatar is you can save more here, I would say...

The city space would be smaller than UAE i.e. in Doha, but you will find millions of filipino's here, much more than you can find in Dubai. The climate is seriously hot.Qatar is entirely different from Dubai, But it is a place you will learn to like soon. Not because of anything but because of nothing. And, Try to get a little bit better salary, if you hit Qatar and you don't like the job, you will have to adjust with a 2 year ban, unlike Dubai.Best Advice I can think of: Come here on visit visa for a month or so and if you like it stay. Take Care.
