Do people really understand the L warning sign?

My wife recently passed her test, so I put the L magnetc plates on the front and the back of car but other drivers do not even pay attention and even whens she's driving on the right lane she still gets flashed for driving "too slow". I wish there was a much better awarness campaign. Does anyone here not understand what the L means? I wonder!

Some countries have "P" plates for provivisional drivers. This means you have passed the test but are still getting used to driving in open traffic. I'd suggest she avoids busy roads and rush hours till she is confident enough to drive without plates. Oh, and keep right unless overtaking!

She already pass the test, there's no need to put the L sign, or she still dont know how to drive?

rb73, I DID ask and even though what you are saying makes sense in theory but in practise it's a different story. It's not illegal in any way and it is an indication of a Learner or a New Driver. Now I have to buy a big SUV as it's seemingly the only way you get a little respect on the roads of Doha.

Yes indeed, as long as we have eyes., we do watch vigilently infront of our car and the way these new deck moves we can know also they are learners. So what is your problem hehehehe.

Anyone driving too slow risks their life here, you must keep up with the speed of other drivers. I think the only Learner Drivers anyone pays any attention to if at all are the ones in the Driving School vehicles.

I agree with rb73. Someone who's passed the driving tests is no less than a complete driver. Plus no one can hold traffic on any of the lanes by driving too slow. A flash in such conditions is inevitable. Also putting an "L" mark is obligatory only on a vehicle meant for learning, or a person who's learning (under someone's supervision). As far as i know, putting signs on vehicles must be approved by the Traffic Police.

When an open licensed driver is driving the vehicle you must remove the sign “L” in this part of the world. It is known to be used for the drivers who has a learning permit only and must only be behind the steering wheel with an expert driver who is passed the test for professional trainer. Driving alone with L sign on your wife could be stopped and questioned by police, you better check with traffic police before installing such signs.
