Buying online tickets for family in UK

I'm trying to  buy the tickets on line and keep coming across the problem that the credit card has to be presented at check in. I don't have time to get credit cards issued to family members now, anyone solved this problem or knows a travel agent who will help?

mentioned buying it in Qatar and sending the details across.

Is it no longer possible to buy the ticket in Qatar and ask the airline to send a PTA (Passenger Ticket Advise) to them?

i have done this before with e-ticket.. what you should do is write a letter saying you are allowing this purchase and photocopy the credit card you used front and back.. fax it to whoever is travelling all they have to do is show your letter and credit card copy.. they will then issue the boarding pass... hope this helps..

Went to the sales office on Airport road and they sorted it out and emailed the tickets to UK for me, cost about 15% more than on line though

Sorry to say.. I found that here the policies (for whatever you are applying for/ purchasing/etc) keep changing from time to time and sometimes it is not in accordance to the company's but personal's (the staff).

Sorry to laugh...  I just bought tickets from QA for my family in Los Angeles...  The lady on the phone said they "just need to pick them up at the local office... in Washington DC!"  Sure, in Qatar you can drive across the country in 2 hours, but thats 5000 km!!  Anyway, I eventually picked up the e-tickets at a QA office here (long story) and paid with my credit card....

Here's what they told me: if you purchase online with your card, you need to go to a local office and fill out a form...  I purchased them over the phone so I just needed to pick them up and no extra form needed (thats what the people in the office told me, on the phone they said I needed a form)...

You would think QA staff would know their policies, but that's expecting too much, isn't it?

Its about me trying to use my CC from here to get the airmiles! apparantly if I do it from the local sales office and show my ID they will let people fly

I flew domestically with Turkish airlines and remember on the website it said you MUST have the credit card with you when you check in.

When I did check in I just showed the passport and they didn't ask for the credit card.  I'm not recommending you ignore the airline's own advice, but I personally think it's all a heap of

My husband's company bought our tickets here and we collected from the QA office at our home country. It is call e-ticketing. It is very common now.

Yeah, I had the same problem when trying to book a ticket for my Mum. Like Darude said you can always buy a ticket here, although I tried that & it worked out more expensive.

I then went onto thomascook.com and the price was cheaper than here, you can pay by either credit or debit card (if you still have them from the UK), although they do charge you a small amount for delivery of the ticket. Or go onto expedia.co.uk agian using your UK crdit card and yu get an e-ticket, and the great thing is you don't have to show it at check in.

Good luck

i dont know abt Qatar Airways. I did it with Indian Airlines. its become a common rule for all airlines, for security reasons i heard.

n these were the instructions published on the indian airlines website. i just followed it, and it worked.

which airlines r u using? u might fine guidelines on the respective website..

I spoke to QA who said there was no way of doing that. You've done it recently?

buy a ticket here

and send them your family the ref. or ticket number to Uk to get them printed from the same airlines office. ie if they are travelling on Qatarairways let them go to Qatarairways office there. or no need for that too. its already on system let them show the number at airport counter. and thats what i always do.

you can write a formal letter authorizin ur family members to use your credit card for purchasing the tickets.

In other words, you can write that you are purchasing tickets on their behalf.

Make sure the letter contains:

Name of the passengers.

Passport Number of the passengers.

ticket details.

Name of the card holder (you?)

Passport number of the card holder.

In addition to the above u need to attach a copy of your credit card. both sides, front and back, but make sure to black out the 3 digit security code at the back.

this is how i did for my brother. it shud work
