Renting a Car in Doha
By amanqureshy •
Hi All,
I have a British driving license and would like to rent a small car for a month, looking for a good deal. Could anyone give me some information, a name and number, as well as what are the requirements?
Thanks in advance,
AQ
I think you can only drive on a UK licence for 1 week, after which you need to get a Qatar licence, but that is quite easy, can be done in about 1 hour, you need to take a simple eye test and show your UK licence and pay a small charge (QR100 ish), even on a visit visa. Alternatively get an International Driving Licence before leaving UK. I think you can drive 6 months on that. For a cheaper, longer term rental company we use Petra. Warning: for any hire/lease company here, check everything on the car, including the condition of tires, does it have a spare, a jack, a tire wrench? If you need a child seat, bring it from the UK. http://petrarentacar.com
there are enough rent a car services in every street, for different charges, different models.just step in to one of those and check as per your budget.
If you are not in Qatar yet, then why don't you book your car rental from UK itself? They would wait for you at airport and also provide you with a car that best suits your need. I bet you have Budget Rent a car, AVIS rent a car, HERTZ car rental etc. branches in the UK.
If your in Qatar, I am afraid you might need to have a valid Qatari driving license as its a different case now.
