I have got an Offer of 10,000 qr per month. I am offered Family Status. Accomodation will NOT be provided by company. How much will be my monthly expenditure like Housing Rent, Monthly Food and Other Bills expenses? I prefer simple living style. I have heard Housing is too costly and people are sharing Accomodation. I wish to have 2 Bedroom Flat and NO-Sharing. HowMUCH will I be able to save per month ? Is there any indication of Rent Decreasing or Govt. is going to take any step ?

the townships are on teh way.....a couple are done.another year or 2 years and the real estate price will drop.....bcos most of the govt companies are having townships for their employees....the biggest hospital is having its own residential village....so its a matter of time.

oh......you need to give us time to come and post here:-D

i was busy most of the morning.

but either way rethink your travel here...bcos i seriosuly feel with the current offer you will be stuck here.amd moreover here you dont have to option of leaving one job if you get a better offer elsewhere in qatar. once youleave and you dont get a NOC..then you can enter doha for 2 years.

this is under review to make it more relaxed but until its gazetted...the rule still stands.

Thank u all, especially han19, for such true and prompt replies. I think the best way to tackle this Housing Rents hike is that all major companies should have their own townships, if not already. This will be one time big cost but companies will not have to keep on paying higher rents via employees. Because if employees are not able to save and if those have to pour all savings in the name of Housing Rent then Companies will loose skilled manpower. Also companies have to hire new persons everytime someone leaves and waste time again in training new employees. Current scenario doesn't give stability of manpower in companies which do not provide Housing facility. SO TO HAVE TOWNSHIPS IS THE ONLY BEST AND PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM OF RENT HIKES. What all of u say ? Is there any company who is thinking in this direction ?

present day situation: real estate is making money and then more money.

no one really cares about the middle sect of people who are earning in the range of 6000-10000. its a sad state.

most families are leaving because the cost is going up with everything. very frankly.....the status for asians wont change that easily......

you earn little, your work hard and save nothing. this is picture of majority of indians here.

so pls think about this realistically. no one on QL will ever give you false advice or lead you astray.

like i said earlier.....no one can guarantee you that you will get a place for 5000.you may or may not.its a chance to take.

once you are here.....your pay wont rise every year but costs will. if you take the org words that you will get good promotions etc..then you really need to rethink your entire plan.you have little kids whom you will be relocating for this amount.not worth it at all.

once here you are stuck with that amount.

if you wish to come here by yourself and work for a short period of time...then you can think of saving. your family can visit you during the vacations.....this is the only scenario where you will save....but the price you pay is staying away from family.

weigh the options.

my company is semi government. I am offered post of Field Operator. Last yr housing allowance 3700 is already revised to 5000 and basic is revised from 3600 to 3900.

I see everyone soughts for costly rents. Doesn't any company or government try or think to solve this problem in favour of all expatriates? Is government showing any sign of hope or interest for solving this problem? What are the reactions of companies on this issue as those might be loosing skilled manpower.

I hate to say it, but the offer is not great. The housing is the stickling point and it will cost you a lot if you are paying it yourself. Plus getting around is mandatory and it sounds like you have not figured well for buying a car. It has to make sense for you to have some chance of saving money to come here.

You have to be realistic, why come to a foreign country if you are going into debt on the wage being paid? It is an adventure, but not a good one on those terms.

Han is right, offer is very low. Try and re-negotiate else think twice before accepting it.

whats the position being offered to you?

is it prvt or govt company.

the basic salary is very low. you will be grabbing at straws with that amount.many people do survive in that amount....but knowing the kind of situation here. it would be foolish to come with a low package.

basic should be atleast 5000+.

i dont think saving is a possibility.

car loan will claim atleast 1000-1500 per month.

the rest will go off in just household expenses.

no one can give you a guarantee that you will get a place for 5000qrs.

is the 10k incl of rent allowance...then its not a good offer at all.

if its not incl then whats the allowance they are giving you.

2bed flat is nothing less than 5500......goes upto 7000.

keep allowance for furnishing.

2 kids: school fees, if indian schools then its almost 5000-7500yearly that can be paid in 3 installments or monthly.

yearly vacation with family tickets....a huge chunk will go off here if you are paying from your pocket and if you kid goes to school then you will prefer a vacation during the child's vacation period....this is the time the airfare shoots up.

groceries: 350/week.plus misc of 150/week....so assume 500.

tel bills, internet bills, petrol, assume 1000.

simple living will be eating dhai chawal with laal mirchi everyday.with kids there will be some amount of expense.

hope this helps.
