AMAZON purchases
Does anyone have experience with making purchases on Amazon?
I had purchased a book online and on checking out my shipping cost was almost the cost of the book (a whooping USD 49) with the book&cd (financial book) costing USD 64. The shipping cost automatically goes to priority shipping. Although the site says that there is only Priority Shipping to Qatar is there anyway I can reduce the shipping cost (normal shipping to the middle east cost USD 7 or USD 13). Please inform me on anyother hidden cost amazon has.
I'm facings problems to buy books for kindle while living in Qatar.
Apparently there are restriction to buy book while in Qatar.
I'm blocked by amazon from getting books. Honestly I'm completely disappointed, I should have listen to people when they told me to buy other brands of ebook readers...
Hi!
Yes as above, Aramex is a good way of getting things shipped over quickly and cheaply. You need to check for the difference of price.
Aramex:
200QR to open your account, they will provide you with a special code and two addresses (UK and US) packages will get automatically shipped to you. The cost is per weight. I think it is around 8USD per half kilo (books are heavy so always check how much it weighs) If you buy from Amazon UK send to your UK Addy if in the states to US addy (usually Amazon does not charge for within US delivery)
Normal Post:
Always check what is cheaper and as another QL said it's better to get something from the UK.
Hope that helps.
I buy from Amazon weekly and it is cheap, but you need to get Aramex Shop and Ship service (www.aramex.com) which gives you a US postal adress and when the Amazon packages arrives at Aramex in the States they ship them to Qatar very cheap.
Doing it you way is too expensive and takes a long time. When I order a book(or any other thing including Electronics) from Amazon it arrives after around a week.
Be careful, my daughter ordered quite a few books at one time and her credit card was debited 11 times for the amount. She had quite a battle getting it reversed again so just take care.
i'll try that out if the cost differs. I did read previous post on reservations in making a delivery to a PO Box, hence did put my housing address in addtion to the PO Box number. But the issue on the very high shipping cost remains. I don't mind paying around USD 10 for shipping as i do not require it urgently buy USD 50 for a book is asking too much
I tried twice to get books and DVDs shipped here and was told Amazon.com could not ship here, however the same book and DVD could be shipped from Amazon.co.uk - the price of the goods was not that different in the end - try UK
