ABOUT THE PROJECT: The project is in Qatar where I’m assigned as Civil Inspector is the Expressway Project. The 189km New Orbital Highway is part of the expressways portfolio and has been designed to provide a new link to areas north and south of the capital city of Doha. Bypassing the city it will provide a new link between the new Hamad Port and neighbouring industrial city at Mesaieed. Contract 1 is for a 45 km new dual carriageway that includes eight grade-separated interchanges.
Role And Responsibilities:
- Perform all daily inspection and test of the scope and character necessary to achieve the quality of construction required in the drawings and specifications for all works under the contract performed ON or OFF site.
- Cary out inspection and checking for all quality related procedures in the site and ensures activity at the site are as per approved method statement and inspection test plan.
- Directly coordinating with the contractors regarding project activities such as the construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client's requirements.
- Work Instructed & Monitor as per the Quality Norms.
- Ensuring the contractors comply with operational and safety standards.
- Assisting to identify, respond to or evaluate field construction technical issues to maintain the schedule.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: The project is located at an altitude of more than 10,000 ft. and passes through the heart of the Himalayan Mountains. The road was constructed from Bafliaz (Poonch) through Pir Panjal pass to Shopian. Construction of this 89 km road was difficult and hazardous as it crosses through the Pir Panjal mountain ranges at elevations ranging from 11,500 to 13,000 feet. The project involves construction work on a particularly steep uphill stretch of 49kms through rugged terrain that remains snowbound in the long winter months.
Role And Responsibilities:
- Maintained a file system for all the project like instructions, materials on site, reports and other documents and correspondence pertaining to the construction activities.
- Responsible for the quality and workmanship of every activity, thorough knowledge of all phases of engineering construction relating to Civil and Structural discipline interfacing the multidisciplinary operations.
