Worker buses with windows open

Few buses can be seen transporting workers in the afternoon (when outside temperatures are 40 to 44 deg. celsius) with windows kept open. If the Ac is on then why do they do it? If not, is this practice legal / allowed?

Yep.. Let the workers suffer to protect the planet .... Don't worry about excessive lighting in malls and streets .. V8 SUVs and over use of A/Cs in Malls

WT, Please count it my pal ....... a bus with 52 passengers, a/c running at full will spew more CO2 in front of you nose than the other bus with open windows ........... it will cause more ice to melt at the mountains ........ that will raise the sea levels ........ that will result into the ocean water coming out to the land ........ we will loose homes , crops , towns , insects , animals ..........

There is no "fresh air" on Doha's streets. It's one of the most polluted cities in the world, MickeyMouse.

Yes, I would have the air conditioners switched on. The two odd people are not normal people and they need to learn to bear the problems with the air conditioner working rather than let the 50 other people suffer. Try working your thoughts on such a situation to keep the air conditioners off and you will get 100 kicks on your backside (2 x 50) from the workers. You don't "know" workers and base your comments on your 'philosophical' style of thinking.

Accha, Suppose you have 52 passengers in a bus 50 wants the a/c on but if 2 souls are allergic to smelly a/c closed environment ....... then what would you do ........ would you make 50 people happy & let two guys fall sick ? ...........

The non-functioning of air conditioners in worker's buses is a major problem in some companies as it costs to repair and the companies are not willing to spend money. The big bosses who travel in Mercedes and Land Cruisers do not suffer. There are companies who do not wish to spend even to replace the damaged windshield wipers of their buses. When it rains, the poor drivers suffer. If the bus lands up in any accident, of course "it is the driver's fault" and the cost of damages get deducted from his salaries. The wipers do get replaced then as the driver has paid for them! If MM believes "employers are like our fathers" he is blind to the realities on the ground as he lives in his own "philosophical world."

The answer is simple.. Carry our random checks on buses .. If the A/C unit is not installed or switched off, then fine the company heavily..

It is inhuman. Some companies are least bothered about employees. Profit is paramount for them.

MM: Perhaps you should try travelling on one of these buses .. It will broaden your outlook..

nijel: Thanks for posting.. The authorities had already ordered all buses to have ACs .. Then many companies complained about the costs .. Now the implementation has been delayed I believe..

My aim was to just create an awareness to any company transport staff reading this. I did not want to directly point out that the company buses did not keep the air conditioners running when transporting the workers during the hot afternoon. If the authorities can highlight and fine a few of such inhumane acts, then more awareness can be created.

Brit, How could a mason get similar working conditions with that of a secretary ? ............. both are skilled in a separate way so are the facilities ............

Please remember that Molten believes that our sponsors are our fathers .. If they want us to suffer , then we should do it with dignity ..

Nij, Lets not go in a challenging way like legal or not ......... we need to understand where we are ? If our company is making good profit then we will definitely travel in an ac bus .............
