Slavery...
Tired of rascism? Picture this one... a thin lady sales associate smaller than 5 feet tall pushing a delivery cart loaded with 2 big boxes more than double her size inside Villaggio Mall. I had a chance to ask maybe the delivery person was sick or absent that day while helping her pushing the cart to their store but to my shock i learnt that their company-retail mogul in Middle East owns 20 shops in Villagio alone-cannot afford to have 1 or 2 delivery persons. Each store was given each a trolley so they will get their goods from a delivery truck outside the mall everyday. She told also that what I saw is only the tip of the iceberg of their problems they had. Passport kept by company, no contract, company accmodation deducted from their slary with a curfew till 12 midnight-store closed at 11 pm on weekend., transportation overloaded. eettcc..
If you want to see it live, try to go Villagio Mall between 3pm to 5 pm sat - wed thats delivery time...
I was assigned their fo a month....
thank you for that link....
that documentary is a must see for all Qatari expatriates...
The punishment for log in beyond curfew is warning letter for first offence and the second is termination.....
I've learned that this company who brought international brands from coffee shop to fashion etc,. to Qatar is running by a Country Manager from UK.
Qatar is stupid with labour law. Total slavery.
Everybody is right Everybody is wrong, it depend where we stand.
Appalling..Im constantly disgusted with the slavery that occurs here on a daily basis, the way people think if they sponsor someone and pay them a measily amount of money every month gives them a right to not only "own" that person but treat them like crap. You only have to look in these people eyes to see their sadness and despair...

there is a movie by AlJazeera called "blood, sweat, and tears" and it's about the sad life of migrant workers in Qatar...
Foolish incoherent perceptions.....
See guyz !
sad,, very sad..

ekatar ... it seems very normal over here. I spoke with one of the filipina lady who works in one of the restaurant in Ramada. She have a curfew till 9pm ... passport kept by company, 11 hours a day of working hours for monet as little QR 1000 a month.
the restaurant i used to frequent in Salwa Road ... they dont let a new hire a day off for the first 3 months ... What the heck?
the famous coffee chain that i wont name it for obvious reason ... deduct 500 QR from the salary for acommodation and another 200 QR for transport.
