How long does visa take?

Trish14
By Trish14

Hi all,

I was wondering how long it takes to process a work visa for HMC for uk? I have received confirmation from HMC that my credialtialing was completed 6th May and I am now waiting on visa. I was wondering if anyone had any time guidelines/ been in similar situation as I am not getting any clear answers/ timings.

Thanks all

Hi All. I would welcome some advise, ideally from Trish14 too as I am also from the UK. After almost a year of interviews and more interviews and the credentialing my visa has finally been approved but HMC will not provide me with a application number and so I am unable to track my application. Is there a government department that I can call/email to get an update?

Hi. Good day. Last December I have received an email from the HR department of Aspetar that I am already eligible for visa application and ticket. I have told my recruitment agent about this news and they told me that they would call me once something will come up. It has been 7 weeks and I still got no call or any confirmation about my visa application whatsoever. I'm starting to get worried and frustrated having to wait this long, having my plans and life on hold.

Hi All, how did this work out? I have been waiting on my visa for 4 months now, still no news. Rossette, we're both looking to move to the same organization, curious to hear if you got your visa or are still waiting. I fail to understand why this is taking so long. I am a Canadian citizen moving from Canada.

No:(, what about you? I am still under processing! What are they processing in 5 months!? I guess the nationality has direct impact on the processing duration and Qatar do not like issue visa for some nationalities :) currently I am thinking on rejecting their offer I prefer a position with a bit of respect.

OracleB - I hear u!

My life has been suspended for 4 months now and I am getting frustrated day by day. I was told - BY EMAIL - it would take a max of 1month! I just cnt believe that they cant understand that candidates have families, continous education programs, relocation planning!

Thank you Rosette, yes of course, they said just wait more, it is normal. Although they said it takes long between 2 - 8 weeks at first. But after 12 weeks there is no news, And my life is completely suspended. :(

OracleB, I am sorry that this is taking too long - but that seems to be the normal ocnditions for all external applicants, Qatar. Have u tried to get in touch with HR employer?

News! Guess what!

I have managed to get in touch with a friend who works in the immigration office. Was sad to be informed that the visa process takes max of 5 days and they couldnt find any visa under my name within their system! i.c, the delay with process is internally from the employer side! silly!

What about the following: U.S. education degrees and a U.S. marriage certificate that have already been authenticated by U.S. authorities and UAE authorities for employment within the UAE? Can these be taken straight to the MoFA in Doha for the last bit of authentication there for employment in Qatar? Or must they be sent back to the U.S. to be authenticated at the Embassy of Qatar in Washington D.C.?

I posted the following in another thread, but it is germane here as well: MM: It is good to know that docs from HH. Sh Zayed Land carry cachet, which incidentally brings up the issue of authenticated documents. I have a university degree that is authenticated by the U.S. authorities and the UAE Embassy in Washington D.C. When I went to the Embassy of Qatar in Abu Dhabi to get this document authenticated for employment in Qatar, I was told that neither the embassy nor the consulate does any authenticating. I was further told to take this document to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs for authentication (a step that was not required for UAE employment) before bringing it with me to the MOFA in Doha for the final stamp of approval. Curious as to why a UAE stamp would somehow smooth the way for Qatari authentication, I inquired as to why the UAE MOFA would be a necessary step in this bureaucratic circle-jerk. I was genuinely curious about how this "workaround" works, as if it might give me some insight into the bureaucratic mindset of the GCC, insight which is always handy when queuing for one stamp or visa or signature or document or photograph or fingerprint or whatever the hell they ask for next. I was simply told, "Do you want a solution to your problem or not? I am giving you a solution." Seeing that an explanation was not going to be forthcoming, I gathered my documents, offered my sincere thanks, and proceeded to the UAE MOFA for yet another stamp, and this time a stamp that was not even required for UAE employment but for employment in another country. My conclusion was that a UAE stamp on a document somehow signals around the GCC that this document is legit, so there is no need for questioning, just lick and stamp and move it along. Incidentally, this Qatari consular clerk is the same person who also told me that it would not be a problem to export my 2004 vehicle to Qatar. I have a feeling that only one of the clerk's methods is going to work.

Any document issued by UAE,attested by foreign affairs UAE, must be attested by Q embassy n UAE

Y not??

By Rosette22• 29 May 2014 20:15
Rosette22

Absolutely!

I wasn't able to attest my degree at qatar embassy in UAE,coz the document wasn't issued in uae itself

By dominic11• 29 May 2014 20:07

Rosette: I was recently at the Embassy of Qatar in the UAE to have my son's birth certificate (born in the UAE) authenticated and was told that the Embassy does not do any authentication. The embassy would have me believe that all I must do now is take the birth certificate with me to Doha in August and have it stamped at the MoFA. Does this sound correct? Your information seems to suggest that the Qatar Embassy in the UAE should be stamping documents originating in the UAE.

I have just received this msg from a friend who had encountered similar issue of delay - thought to share it .I have submitted all documents, including 2 degrees (DDS and MSc). The bachelor degree couldnt be authenticated by qatar embassy in UAE due to the embassy rules (not to authenticate any document unless it issued from UAE) However, my MSc is authenticated as required.

As the post is Medical Manager, could this be a reason of delay? A friend has noted that the immigration officer might expect to have the medical degree (DDS) attested in order to proceed with the visa?

Thank you!

Rosette22 I contacted the person in hmc who sent my employment offer - my delay has been because the person in credentialing section did not send the report over to state that it has been completed. Luckily I had the email which states this so forwarded this to them. They are now applying for visa and stated that this takes between 3-4weeks. Maybe you need to contact the person who sent your employment offer for hmc directly? Hope this helps you (I'll keep you updated if visa does arrive in 3-4weeks). Good luck

Ok thanks alaqeedi - I think because everything else has taken so long I'm anxious how long the visa will take!

I do not have an application number (I do not think) as the recruitment agency in UK is liaising with HMC. But every time I ask for update they say the same thing and unable to give me a time frame. Fingers crossed it will arrive shortly. Many thanks for your comments
