Difficult secretaries - ruined departments

Secretaries can make or break a department. They are the actual backbones of an organisation. They can knit people together , provide a helping hand ,a push or a shoulder to cry on, depending on the situation.
Imagine if your department has a secretary who tries to be unhelpful if he can. The only words that pour from his/ her mouth are harsh ones. He/ she carries gossip from one person to another and has a sarcastic and very hurting tongue, to boot.
Such a person can ruin the reputation of the department.

P.S. I am suffering becos of one such person in my department and it seems that many others are too.
No rememdy in sight - sigh- we can only put up with it.
it's common i guess that secretary exec think of herself as demi god......as for me i have the license to shout at anyone in the office , it doesn't matter male or female ,officer or executive...you made a mistake , sir dolly will shout at you , .. you made the same mistake twice , sir dolly will scream at you , you made the same mistake three times , then sir dolly will take you to interview oprah cause you're phenomenal , i could make money of such a unique creature!!!

We had one who thought she was a HOD. Even in meetings where she should have been taking minutes she would interrupt or disagree with opinions being voiced. We had to let her go in the end and now the world is a wonderful and calm place.
A secretary is the boss tools, in all aspect and activities, including extra curriculum. Thats why they behave just like that
Support staff like secretaries should keep it in their minds that their job is to ease the life of their colleagues. More than the brains and the skills, they should also have excellent interpersonal skills. Parts of these skills are inherent, some parts learned through experience.
It pays to have pretty secretaries with brains. Sack your secretary and hire me. :)
i remember my previous job, the secretary was more like the boss..
No body would dare shout at our secretary- and she is a female , as many might have guessed. She rules the roost and even Qatari bosses, I feel are a little wary of her.
P.S Her husband works in the HR department - could this be why everyone is scared of what she might do to them ?
Agree with britexpat that I have seen this only in this part of the world - secretaries think they are out of the world.
When a secretary from my husband's department left to join the Medical College out here, believe me , they all had an official celebration for having seen the last of her.
Sometimes, I wish we had a male secretary or a young female one at least.
All secretaries in our departments are female. They are useless, but pretty.
i think you have a qatari secretary, who might be thinking that she/he is the boss and hence the crisis......the curse of qatarisation????
All the secretaries in my department are male. Well I don't feel bad shouting at them, dare if there were female, I don't think I would be able to raise my voice...:)

So true Britexpat.. They think they are running the whole show..
I have noticed that in this region, secretaries of executives believe themselves to be demi gods and act as if they themselves are the boss..
hmmmm.. our secretary is a guy, he is good and help us a lot.. for me its easier to deal with a guy secretary, im having difficulties with girls sometimes..
I guess your secretary is a guy?
