Vasanth, job security depends on company to company. Your offer letter must have all the details related to benefits your employer actually offers. Be very careful in getting all possible details in black & white, no verbal promises.

Offer letter must include :

1. Your company name as 1st party

2. Your complete name as per your passport as 2nd party

3. Your profession details at which you are hired

4. Your contract is whether of limited contract (of how many years) or unlimited type

5. Your basic salary + other allowances (transport, housing, other) and all must show a definite value. Otherwise a total salary package which includes all these expenses.

6. Basic salary must be min. 50% or more of the total salary package (as your gratuity will be calculated on basic salary).

7. Annual return airfare / tickets (whether for you or including your family too) should be at least once a year.

8. Medical Insurance to be provided by company. Better if it includes your family coverage too.

9. Annual paid leave should be between 26-30 days per year.

10. Annual increment details or yearly bonus should be mentioned in offer letter.

11. Job location should be with in Qatar only. If company plans to make you go and work outside Qatar, then will they pay for air tickets & your boarding expenses. Normally these expenses vary from QAR.50 - 150 per day, excluding tickets.

12. Also all visa and immigration related expenses must be paid by your company & it should not be deducted from your salary @ any time. Unless you breach the contract or you wish to resign before a certain time of employment.

13. Qatar still has a ban period of 2 years, if you resign. If your company terminates, then insist on getting NOC, so that you can switch your job.

I will get more details, in mean time, check all these details with your company if still you haven't signed your offer letter / contract.

All the Best !!

Living costs in Doha are rising steeply. Since Accommodation is not provided you will have to shell out anywhere between 4 to 5 k for a 1bhk. 5 to 7 k for 2bhk in case u have kids. Grocery and others u can manage in around 1.5 to 2 for a couple including occasional eating out. Transport is a bit expensive as taxi's charge a minimum of 10 QR per trip. After 8 years of experience i would say pay is less and try to negotiate if possible. Annual Leave should be around 25 to 30 calender days and gratuity would be approx of 3/4th of 1 month basic salary (applicable only after completion of 1 year )

Regarding savings, depends entirely on you. Like whether you are single or married ? Have kids ? How much do you socialize, go out frequently, shopping habits, etc.

But on an average, you might be able to save QR.6000 to QR.7000, from your offered salary of 10,000+

Hi Vasanth, I don't know much about Metallurgy industry, but if you have previous GCC exp. in same filed & as you have mentioned a total of 8 yrs of exp.,

I think your pay scale should be somewhere between QR.12000 - 14000 as complete salary package without transportation expenses.

With such package, Transport has to be provided by company.

Housing & food expenses - on your side.

Other expenses you have already mentioned that company will provide you.

BUT MAKE SURE THAT THE COMPANY INCLUDES ALL THE BENEFITS IN YOUR FINAL & FORMAL EMPLOYMENT LETTER / JOB OFFER LETTER.

AS MANY COMPANIES IN QATAR VERBALLY SAY TOO MUCH & DON'T GIVE EVEN 50% OF PROMISED IN WRITTEN !! TO BE CAREFUL IN THIS. AND ALWAYS ASK FOR DETAILED OFFER LETTER. IT'S YOUR RIGHT
