Ooredoo, Vodafone set to make major improvements to Internet speeds
Internet users in Qatar will soon have things better than ever before with both Ooredoo and Vodafone getting ready for major upgrades.
Ooredoo announced plans to launch the 10Gbps Supernet service, which will offer the ‘fastest Internet speed ever made available for homes in Qatar,’ within months, reported Gulf Times.
Ooredoo has already tested the next-generation Fibre-to-Home technology in a controlled environment.
The company claimed that the 10Gbps Fibre connection would provide 10 times the current available fibre speeds in Qatar. Ooredoo is aiming to introduce 5G services and offer 8K TV technology for its users in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Vodafone Qatar told Gulf Times that its new 4.5G network will be rolled out across its network in the next few months. It will this become one of the first carriers to introduce the technology in the GCC.
It is expected to provide customers with mobile speeds of more than 1Gbps. The technology to achieve such high speeds was tested on live sites in Vodafone Qatar’s network, reaching speeds of up to 780Mbps.
Irrespective of which service provider you are using, things seem to be looking up for Internet users in the country.
