Google Pixel may be the iPhone 7 killer that people were talking about!
Google is not a company known for doing flashy introductions for its various products. But breaking from tradition, the tech giants hosted an event in San Francisco yesterday night to announce a host of new products.
The chief among them was the Google Pixel smartphones. The company claims it is the first phone to be made ‘inside out by Google.’ Industry insiders feel that it could give Apple iPhones a run for its money, or gasp… even kill it in the long run.
Here is a look at all Google products that were unveiled at the event.
Google Pixel
The Pixel smartphones come in two sizes — 5inch Pixel ($649) and 5.5inch Pixel XL ($769). This is the same pricing as the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The devices boast of 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, fingerprint sensor and a 12MP rear-facing camera. Both phones run on the new Android 7.1 Nougat, Google's most recent mobile operating system.
The devices have an in-built Artificial Intelligence assistant — Google Assistant. It is a powerful tool that can help you to make things simpler in all facets of life.
For photography freaks, the camera is the best-ever rated in all smartphones that have come out until now. And what’s better? You will NEVER run out of space. This is because users can save their photos in the cloud. That’s a game-changer.
The only funny thing about the phone is the names of the colours it comes in — quite black, very silver and really blue (limited edition).
Daydream View
This competitively-priced virtual reality headset for mobile devices has the potential to shake up the market. While the ‘viewer’ holds a smartphone, it is a hand-held remote that controls what's happening inside the screen. This is unlike most of the VR headsets available in the market today. Available in slate, snow and crimson colors, it will cost $79 when launched in November.
Daydream will launch with over 50 partners and a slew of games. It will also support streaming services like Netflix, HBO and Hulu.
Chromecast Ultra
Google’s next-generation content streaming device — Chromecast Ultra — also got a lot of interest. The gadget supports 4K streaming of programmes and will be available for $69.
The device plugs into your TV through an HDMI port and can stream content from your computer or mobile device.
Google WiFi
Google WiFi helps adjust and optimise Internet connection inside your home. It automatically finds the strongest WiFi point when you move around your house.
Google Home
Google Home is priced at $129. It pulls from over 70 billion facts the company has logged throughout the years. It comes preloaded with Google Assistant.
