Josoor Institute equips sports and events industries professional
Josoor Institute, a centre of excellence for the sports and events industries, inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), saw the successful completion of three new professional development workshops and the fifth block of its ongoing flagship professional certificate and diploma programmes.
Over 50 delegates from across the MENA region attended the workshops, which took place on 21-22 August at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The delegates explored concepts related to ‘Advanced Professional Practice in the Events Industry’, ‘Human Resource Management in the Major Events Industry’ and ‘Introduction to Football and Sport Finances’. Delegates from various backgrounds such as sports, education, branding and advertising, and banking joined the workshops and also got an opportunity to get a feel of the 18 months’ certificate and diploma programmes.
During the same week, Josoor Institute also completed the fifth block of its ongoing flagship certificate and diploma programmes in ‘Major Events Management’ and ‘Football and Sports Management’ that ran from 21 to 25 August. The fifth block of the programmes trained delegates on topics such as event workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, budgeting, generating revenue and financial planning. In addition to the returning speakers, the fifth block also welcomed new renowned academicians including Kieran Maguire from University of Liverpool, and David Bassett from Leads Beckett University.
Speaking about the success of the new workshops, and the progress of the certificate and diploma programmes thus far, Mushtaq Al Waeli, Executive Director (acting) of Josoor Institute said: “With every set of new workshops, we have welcomed new delegates and returning delegates. These delegates have registered for the new workshops because they recognise the value they gain from our workshops. I also want to take a moment to thank our faculty who are from some of the world’s most renowned institutions for tirelessly putting in efforts to ensure that the delegates remain engaged and are able to put their new learnings into practice when they go back to their workspace. With such results we truly believe that we are making a valuable contribution to a delegate’s development journey.”
The professional development workshops and the certificate and diploma programmes are part of Josoor Institute’s long-term commitment to building sustainable sports and events industries in Qatar and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by developing a highly skilled human capital. Josoor Institute has partnered with Georgetown University, University of Liverpool and Leeds Beckett University for the design and delivery of its programmes.
Josoor Institute is already gearing up now to launch a new set of training and development programmes that are set to run between September and December. The new programmes in September will focus on leadership and strategic management.
