Will the authorities help me if I report about fake CID?

I am in Qatar for quite a long time. This was the third or fourth time someone harassed me.

Usually all the cases were same. The guy either asks me to show my ID card without introducing himself or tells me he is a Qatari or is a CID or knows someone who is a CID and then they start talking bullcrap as if they are drunk (Most of the times, I come to know that these guys are not even Qatari. They are just lying). .

Isn't that stupid ??? I wanted to report the authorities. But I couldn't goto the police station. The reason is those guys who do this are smart and when they come to know that someone is reporting to the police they run away.

All of them age between 18-28 and some are very older above 40. Should I goto the police station and report now ? I don't have any proof of who were the guys. It's so scary even though I didn't do anything bad. But I feel unsafe.

What should I do in a situation like this? I hate these situations. I also hate to fight and get into arguments, so should I just go to the police station next time.? ?? ?

..if they ask to see it show it..as its not going to get worn by showing it to someone but if they ask for something else besides the ID then you know he is just the wrong person

So many CID wannabes out there nowadays. You have to be careful. Most of these fake CID's sometimes do not know what they are doing by sometimes asking the wrong questions to people they approach.

Would agree with steve and Translator to request to show ID as one of my friend was also asked when he was doing pipeline job and the original CID has shown his ID before checking yours

Ask them for their ID, find an excuse to take a photo of their ID with your mobile. Report only when you have evidence to support your claims.

No, because westerners would not take this bull. They are not scared of someone in a white dress.

Before you show your ID, ask them their ID or tell them you need to call the police to check them. I was approached few times by many arab men (all non-GCC nationals), when I visit places like Safari Mall etc. I ask them to show their ID first or I will call the police and then they disappear.

A CID will show his ID first always.

Why should I show my ID to someone who I don't know and is in civilian clothes ?

You should report them, the police will be able to draw up a picture of where these people frequently target their victims and hopefully catch some of them.

Luckily they never try it on with westerners only gulliable Asians.

Relax, if someone asks for your ID, just show it,and walk away without any fear since none here is able to harass you, without any offense, until you do it to yourself.
