Why doesn't Qatar have a Matrimonial website?

If there is anything needed in this desert town, its the ability for good people to find one another without going to a bar.

Qatar is like 85 or so of 187 countries in the world in the pecking order...

how do you reconcile this?

I am not looking for a fight, but I would like Qatar to move into position #1

...but it can't do that unless it wants to leave position # 85

,,,correct??

Just as, we expect the Qatari Govt. to have leniency in rules for the expatriates...the Govt. & Locals also expect due respect & understanding towards their culture, traditions & social values by us, the expatriate community.

I consider them moderate as compared to others in the region except UAE. I believe, respecting human rights & equality (to some extent) are more important than these petty issues.

mmyke: Sorry dude, every country's culture and laws are different and you need to play by those rules. But, the way I look at it is, there are no undue restrictions in Qatar except for the stupid Friday is only for families day rules at the malls...

Saudi is the worst.

By mmyke• 23 Jul 2010 19:56
mmyke

are these rules the worst??

let me know..

and do they affect effectiveness and performance?

all people and country have there Culture, Religion and customs. if you go to europe you will follow there rules not Qatri ruls, if we have to live in Qatar we must respect the Culture, religion etc, if one don't like He or she is free to move another country. Qatar have Law like other Countries. everyone must respect.

By ruby29• 23 Jul 2010 18:59

i agree with you mmyke but the thing is we are working in their country so we have to adjust :(

By mmyke• 23 Jul 2010 18:01
mmyke

or even want to impose their rules on us when they dont apply??

It only causes disfunctionality in our cultures where it did not exist before...

Unless they are wanting to only have a labour camp...and not a society.

mmyke, says who? I do not agree that people aren't allowed to hang out and have fun! I don't know where you are getting such information. I have seen a lot of non-married people hang out IN PUBLIC and it was totally NORMAL.

By anonymous• 23 Jul 2010 17:51

And you really meet nice people if you go to a bar here?

We are expatrates, We have to follow the rules of the country, respect their culture and tradition. We came here just to earn money and then quit from here. Don't say something which will hurt the qataris. There are plenty of websites of matrimonials, even you can get somethings else too. Don't worry where there is will there is a way. Ok

mmyke I completely agree with you..... But many of my questions have been answered in this very way. We just need to accept that they are not going to try to understand our way of life. Many things that we assume to be normal can land you in Jail out here...dating, and sexes out of wed-lock are a good example of this. By the way claiming that you are un-aware of the law because you are an expat, not only is no excuse. It will usually be levied harsher punishment.

there are many very nice and wonderful people in Qatar that are being kept apart and from meeting each other due to this silliness.

We were born and raised in very good families, taught and were raised to high standards, and we are not to be governed by other cultural standards which do not apply. We are good people.

I will stack excellent expat standards regarding morality, choosing and courting a mate, raising a family, etc. at any time, at any place against any culture.

It has been proven over time, anywhere that it is no better or no worse than anyone else,,,it is the law of large numbers which rules this,,,,

so why not??

Could you imagine how productive and pleasant Qatar would be if expats were allowed to live normally in this regard?

Thx

completely wrong.

This may be what the Arabs believe and they should keep it to their own, but for outworlders a different set of standards apply.

They are kinda crazy about this, they belive that even platonic meetings of single men and women who are not married or blood related, are bad. So they are Haram (forbiden under sharia law), thats why no dating web sites.

what I am talking about...a marriage website would allow good people to meet each other without goingto bars etc.

In Qatar the sexes cannot mingle in any meaningful way, and this would allow for a much healthier and better lifestyle here if there was such a site.

mmyke, I think there are a lot of people have have met people out of bars. I think you are looking in the wrong places if you are looking for a marriage/commitment.
