WATCH IT! YOU MIGHT OFFEND THEM!

I was recently criticized about the things I post on my facebook page. I posted a heart breaking photo of two people at a grave (you can see the photo below). The caption read, "Bosnia, 1993 - Mourning a soldier killed by Serbs and buried in what was once a football field." Photographed by James Nachtwey. I was criticized on this because I was apparently insulting and disrespecting the Serbian culture (I am also Serbian) by saying that they are all killers/murderers (which I looked all over the place to see where I said that) and disrespecting my grandmother because it is her people. And I also disrespected them because I called them Serbs and not Serbians (which that a lone I was like wtf?). And that all I seem to do is post shit that insults people. I think he was so pissed off at me that he was just making up garbage.

I mean WOW! I didn't know posting about poverty, war crimes, and social immorality are insulting to other peoples cultures! Is it my fault for posting something I feel strongly about and condemn such an act that people of my nationality happen to commit? Or is it the narrow mind and ignorant readers/viewers fault to have taken my posts to mean that a specific culture is this way as a whole?. But what his little pea brain didn't think of was by telling me I shouldn't post something like this because it insults the Serbian culture is implying that this is part of the Serbian culture. Wouldn't you want to condemn it since it is a terrible thing done and to show not all are the same?

So if somebody would like to enlighten me on the etiquettes of posting information about these issues so that I don't "insult" in anyway other peoples cultures please be my guest. :)

I'd say you have every right to state your opinion, as long as it is done without insult (which, from what you said, you have done),

Of course, if and when you do that, you have to be ready for people to state their opinion too, which, as you already know, may not be the same as yours.

If you want, you can defend your stand...or just leave them to it.
