UN Women Uses Real Google Searches

UN Women Uses Real Google Searches

A new advertising campaign by UN Women has used Google to make its argument.

The campaign is designed to highlight the massive gender inequalities that still exist around the globe.

To make the point, UN Women and its ad agency Ogilvy & Mather Dubai simply performed Google searches with terms such as "women shouldn't" and "women need to" on a single day in September.

The auto-complete suggestions were - and remain - extremely telling, many showing evidence of entrenched prejudice.

Campaign creator Christopher Hunt said: "this campaign uses the world's most popular search engine (Google) to show how gender inequality is a worldwide problem. The adverts show the results of genuine searches, highlighting popular opinions across the world wide web."

I have been in Qatar for 8 years and have been a member all that time. I rarely use this site now as it has become a fora for such nonsense as this. Many of the things this dude says are unacceptable in modern society and just because you can hide behind a screen does not excuse spouting hate and prejudice. I assume that these comments are more to wind people up than the actual values held by people, I don't think real decent humans still hold such values.

Just so you know, in the actual world "helping women in their upliftment" was not necessary since the early 1970s. Normal societies (including Qatar) place humans as equal. Perhaps you may like to take a minute to think about some of the powerful and influential women in Qatar who allow you to live here and consider if they would support your utterly invalid, immoral and actually just wrong proclamations?

Molten Metal, are you real? If so please can you explain a few things because your prolific attendance on any anti women thread is not very articulate.

Do you agree that women should not in fact be in positions of power or responsibility?

Do you have a job? Are there no women in your company? Are you married (I hope not).

I can't believe that you express your views in real life except at home which is perhaps why you appear to spend almost all of your life on an anonymous internet forum.

Does google have power over Magna Carta on women? why be affected by this search engine? don't be backward, there are already laws that protects women's right, all this ad-campaign to do is a rigid advocacy because many people and culture are still patriarchal-minded.
