Titanic - Her Tragic Ending

lurk
By lurk

Although it took five years to build, the Titanic had a very short career. She set off on April 10, 1912 from Southampton, England, but never made it to her destination of New York City - she struck an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland shortly before midnight on April 14, 1912. As the ship began to fill with water, people scrambled to get in the lifeboats, but crew members decided that women and children would board first. Although each lifeboard could carry 65 passengers, some of them carried as little as 12. By the time the last lifeboat left, there were more than 1,500 passengers still on board the sinking ship. At 2:20AM on April 15th, people in the lifeboats watched in horror as the "unsinkable" Titanic went down, killing 1,523 passengers. The Carpathia, which had picked up the Titanic's distress signals, reached the site at 3:30AM to rescue 705 survivors.

wealth, yeah redcross claims the unidentified wealth if instructed, or another agency, if they are in the last will. But the one went down ocean is hard to find, so might have lost.

in those days, people didnt know much about the properties of steel at low temperatures or good practices of welding to improve the toughness of welded joints. the weld joints already had minor hydrogen induced cracks which couldnt resist the shock and gave away in its maiden voyage after hitting a big iceberg.

now, we have icebreaker barges infront which clear the way for passenger ships.

wake up call early might have saved lives. So here we are learning from history, don't hesitate to escape, one won't get many wake up calls, but when you get it don't hesitate.

The sinking of the Titanic was one of the most devastating peacetime maritime disasters in history. In 1985 the wreck’s location was finally discovered at a depth of 2.5 miles. We will never know exactly what happened and what could have been done to avoid the enormous loss of life, but the Titanic’s fate continues to haunt the public’s imagination

yes with the story, but it is otherway around. I hate unnecessary worthless hassles, the trusted ship was build on layer of pumpkins was a shocker. It is good to look back, it reminds us of the hinderences we faced and will make us more strong. That is one good thing being a binami, you might have faced all the difficulties in this world and you are strong as a rock.

Our great cruiser, Andrea Doria, sank immediatelly after collided with a ship. This happened in the late 80s and sunk because the captain was dancing with Ava Gardner and gave no instructions.

It was due to the over confidence and arrogance, that the ship will never sink. When titanic started sinking, many passengers were apprehensive to leave the Titanic at first, not believing that the ship was actually sinking, and a number of lifeboats left the vessel half-filled. Lack of leadership well explained. And yeah this happened on April 15th, a date which will live in history for arrogance. I look forward to that day for the fall of all arrogant empire, so that they don't kill innocents any more.

Only the ships that arrived early enough could save lives....the waters were freezing too!

But all this happened because the captian was peeping at them making out....(this is the Movie version)...lol

You cant justify preventing the tragedy of the Titanic to poor communication. What if the captain had to just panic without accessing the damage of the ship and announce that the ship is sinking and then the ship had not to sink?

I posted it just to explain how to prevent a tragedy by proper communication, if the captain had communicated properly and took measure to prevent disaster it would have saved many lives. People forgets some time the bad decision or hiding a truth or not facing a truth can create a catastrophic affect.

When titanic collided with a gigantic iceberg the impact of the collision was hardly felt by many on board. The collision was indeed serious, however, and the ship began filling with water. By midnight the ship inspectors, understanding that the Titanic was doomed, gave the order to start evacuating "women and children first" in the lifeboats, and sent out an international distress call.

When titanic started sinking, many passengers were apprehensive to leave the Titanic at first, not believing that the ship was actually sinking, and a number of lifeboats left the vessel half-filled. Sinking she was, however, and at 2:30 a.m., April 15, the Titanic went down. Many passengers still on board had to jump into the freezing waters of the North Atlantic, while those in the lifeboats watched, helplessly, in shock. More than 1,500 passengers and crew lost their lives, mostly due to hypothermia.
