Three new hospitals for single workers

DOHA: Public health authorities plan to build three major hospitals that would cater exclusively to low-income single foreign workers whose population is on the rise.

The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has already floated tenders for building the first of the three hospitals.
Besides, two more health centres for low-income foreign workers are being built in the Abu Hamour area of the city.

These centres will be run by the Qatari Red Crescent, a charitable organisation. One such centre is already being run by the Red Crescent in the Industrial Area which has the largest concentration of low-paid workers.

This was disclosed by the director of policies at the SCH, Dr Faleh Mohamed Hussein, in remarks to Al Sharq. He said a contract has also been signed to expand the existing expatriate primary health centre.

Do lick Qatari slippers in your sleep too, LLR? If so, then I don't blame you.

You know what hospitals will be ready by April 2016. Now we are in 2013. Without any organ theft history in this country if you are thinking about it then it shows what is in your mind..it is not your mistake...may be incidences in your life might have influenced your thoughts.

In legal terms you must be charged for spreading rumours about a good initiative represented by authorities who dont need kidneys to make money.

The problem with you guys is you trigger someone and if he tells you the truth, you call him racist and biased.

LLR it's your choice. Call it hidden agenda or naked and very cruel reality. But of course, expats have a choice to return back to their country if they don't like it. So it is still not the end of the world.

Such a narrow perspective Sun. I hope you get rid of your hidden agendas and illusions which has no cure.

A good move, though very late.

It is welcome and I felt a need is right in the center of industrial area in st-15 (which will cover about 1/3rd of the strength) as many workers make use of taxis to reach new industrial area for the clinic which is more expensive then the medicine.

LLR let those hospitals for poor expats start and I will show you many.Problem is HMC is visited by all strata of society, you can't steal kidneys freely there.

if you could show me a single case of stealing kidney in Qatar I would agree with you.

It is good to appreciate progress even if it is slow than just making hell out of everything.

That is the whole issue.....it's not a third world country, yet you can hardly trust any good motives here. Eg those who post nice and kind post on QL may have stealth agenda of proving racial or religious superiority etc etc and..................etc. Take it easy buddy.

I hope they don't run a scandal of stealing kidneys of low income expat single workers.

I suppose what the workers really need is something to pass their time and to keep themselves occupied and keep their minds from thinking about home all the time and what they require are just the basic and simple things in life like open and decent playgrounds, a library or reading room with atleast the basic newspapers from their various places. some open spaces or parks close to their work places where they can meet, play, relax and so on and in giving them this basic things you will find this people turning much less often at the hospitals and perhaps even contributing more to their productivity at work.

It's a good move, i have seen many workers struggling with there medical needs, hopefully it would be a big relief for em.
