bugger... I should've said I was serious...

to the OP:

try to find out what it is that she likes the most, most women love jewelries, clothes, bags, perfume, etc.. a good book is also a nice gift, if she loves to read that is...

By anonymous• 1 Aug 2010 10:44

Did you honestly think that I will leave you alone ;)

no wonder WK's one leg is small and one long...:(

By mjamille28• 1 Aug 2010 10:42

By anonymous• 1 Aug 2010 10:41

ok. Leaving you alone :(

By mjamille28• 1 Aug 2010 10:40
mjamille28

WK, it was just a suggestion, the OP can either follow it or ignore.. now leave me alone.. :P

By anonymous• 1 Aug 2010 10:39
anonymous

Oh NOOOOO never give cash, so impersonal. Comeon MJ ;)

Buy her a nice watch, works as a jewellery item too :)

Rest depends on how close you are to her, to my casual friends I just pick up the first thing on the shelf in the gift shop and give it to them :P

For someone special, it depends on what they like, sometimes a book works, sometimes jewellery, sometimes teddy, sometimes chocolates and if I am broke even a single rose works :P

By mjamille28• 1 Aug 2010 10:34
mjamille28

err, the OP just asked for suggestions on what to gift his friend, he didn't ask what people thought of opposite sex being friends.. why does religion always have to be dragged with it... just answer the freaking question and move on!

to the OP: if you can't find a suitable gift for her, maybe you can just give her cash, that way she can choose what she wants to get for herself..

By Colt45• 1 Aug 2010 10:34

Firstly you say "leave it to our muslim brothers and sisters", is because you don't have a nutsack to defend your statement.

Secondly, the OP asked for something for his "Best Friend", which by definition connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, affection, and respect.

You can have neighbours as friends, office colleagues as friends, so on and so forth and the Police will not do anything in that respect. It is not forbidden to associate with women here on a platonic level.

That is why I say, your pea-sized brains need to grow!

Jewelery, bags, shoes, perfume, make-up... the material things that we sometimes say we don't need. :)

I respect you and your religion. But there are others that belong to different religions and others that do not follow any religion whatsoever because we just see it as dividing people of the world (to say the least).

I understand Qatar is a muslim country but non-muslims are not obliged 'to become muslim' and 'behave' as muslims.

Women don't just value jewellery like alot of you have suggested. Some of us appreciate a good book, or maybe a session of paintball or just a night at the movie. It's all subjective and therefore depends on the person.

Saeedkan -'odd way of thinking' puhleease

Many people would say this about you're way of thinking.

Sadly, it's people like yourself that contribute to the problems of the world with their lack of respect for others. But fortunately some are blessed to be wiser than that.

We should respect the thinking of others even if we don't agree with it.

"After all, you should give her the things that can be used by her later.."

Perhaps she doesn't want a vacuum cleaner, cooker or washing machine...

By soniya• 31 Jul 2010 13:34
soniya

Con, take your friend out and ask her what she likes and wish to have..There is nothing wrong in asking directly to her..After all, you should give her the things that can be used by her later..

I thought that was only relevent to having an intimate relationship with someone? As far as I was aware, you could still have friends outside of marriage. I'm married but I have lots of male friends, most of which I knew before I was married.

What about buying her favorite brand of perfum. It works mostly with my female friends. Try to buy one which she likes most but she cannot afford to

By britexpat• 31 Jul 2010 12:54

First you have to define "Best female friend"..

Is is platonic or are naughty bits involved ??

U should not ask such type of questions in a public forum. It should come from heart otherwise

a perfect hubby - would be the great gift.

So I'm guessing you're allowed friends of the opposite sex up until a certain age? Because I went to school with lots of Muslims (both male & female) and we were all friends, and still are, years later!

Necklaces, teddies & chocolates - not exciting or imaginative but normally do the trick :D

Anything personalised with her name on is cute too.

By flor1212• 31 Jul 2010 12:35

and let her choose what she wants (if she really wanted to be motivated to adopt an animal). Maybeit's the gift she wants all along! Just a suggestion!

Con_2010, what are her hobbies?

Does she bake? give her baking pans and dishes.

Does she cook often? give her tefal sets or pyrex.

Does she play tennis? give her racket.

Does she do car racing? give her sports car.

Does she like taking pictures? give her SLR cam.

Does she love surfing the net? give her laptop.

:p

too many choices. if you know your friend, it wouldn't be hard for you to choose a gift, otherwise, you have an intention to impress her, that's another thing. :)

By anonymous• 31 Jul 2010 12:28

If you wanted to be impressive, try a gift of diamond necklace or earings maybe....ladies wud loved it!

By Lafanga• 31 Jul 2010 12:24

Having a purely platonic friendship with a female is not wrong at all. Otherwise there would be no mixed schools in Qatar. I have many male friends and quite happily buy them gifts at their birthdays etc.

OP - it all depends on what she likes. It also depends on the occasion too. Jewellery is always nice if you a rough idea of what she likes.

By gudone• 31 Jul 2010 12:14

yaaaaa lafanga is rite... u hav 2 decide...

just think wat she likes most...

Having friends of the opposite sex was not illegal in Qatar last time I looked.

The OP didn't say it was his girlfriend - it's just a female friend.

It depends how close you are to her my friend.
