I am curious as to why you want to do this ?

Are you thinking of moving to the states?

I'm actually moving to Qatar from Atlanta, but have only been here for a few months. I grew up in Cape May, NJ but am not an Eagles fan.

I also noticed how most Americans here in Qatar seem to be from the midwest or the south. Where are the people from the North East (Philly, Jersey, NY.)?

Americans have ancestors from many different places. Some were from Europe, some were from Africa, and some were from the indeginous (hope I spelled it right) people who were already in America before the Europeans arrived. In addition to that, there has been so many inter racial and inter- cultural marriages that many Americans have ethnically mixed backgrounds.

There is a good way to learn American accent, go watch Youtube. It really helped me learning the accent, and I'm still doing the same thing for hours.

Ohio State is really nice for anyone who knows how to have a good time. What really pisses me off tha is when I drive every weekend to Columbus on U.S 71-Norht, the speed limit is 65MPH!!!, I wanna go faster like 120MPH or more as I do in Qatar.

Being British is about learning the American English language.          The same are the British table manners copied from the French bourgeoisie. Unfortunately the Brits learn their  modern manners from observing how the Americans devour, the British national junk food, "The Chips".

Tig, that haircut may be suitable for island life but not for QL.  It's not your fault, you don't know any better having been brought up in a trailer park.

How about Canadian culture and language?  We are half way between UK and US?  AS with many things Canadian, we try to keep everybody happy but make no big accomplishments/movements forward.  We just muddle through history.

That blue eyed long haired surfer boy in my avatar is my 11 year old nephew.  He is far more cultured than me having grown up in the Cayman islands. Unlike me who was dragged up in a trailer park.

I'm from Alabama, but you probably wouldn't want my accent as I sound like a hillbilly (especially after a few drinks). And as for table manners- I always wipe my hands on my jeans before sitting down for dinner.

contact info can be found in the Marhaba Magazine, available at Jarir Bookstores and all grocery stores.   No doubt you can find an American friend there.

.... why on earth would anyone want to???????? American cutlery? It's called "no table manners".

Side note: There is no such this as English (US) ..... just in case Bill Gates happens to be reading posts in QL.
