I am soon going to be interviewed for a manager position in government health administration. Do you know what kind of salary offers I should expect? My current salary is approx. US$130 000.

Also keep in mind that if you are a US citizen (not just 'based' in the US) you have to pay taxes for anything over $90K.

don't count the allowances, they are NOT take-home pay.

just tell them how much you are getting in US, most often than not, these institutions will do their best to offer you just as much, if they want you badly.

once they have given you your offer, do the math. don't count the allowances, they are take-home pay. study your currency fluctuation forecasts and take that into consideration. if you have kids on school age, check first if the good schools here have slots for your kids. and make sure that although they would likely give school assistance, that it would be substantial enough to cover for your kids tuition fees.

good luck. keep posting.

US salaries are usually quoted per annum, not monthly.

A rule of thumb for many American institutions in Qatar is a competitive US salary PLUS 25-30% And plus a car allowance, housing, medical, retirement, annual airfare, children's tuition (for up to three children,) etc.
