Is this salary offer too low?

Hello, I received a job offer in event production in Doha for four months at 5,000 QAR per month. All my housing and transportation costs would be covered by the company. But I'm totally unfamiliar with basic living costs in Doha and wanted to know if it would be possible to save money. I don't go out that much, but I imagine I would spend money on dining and entertainment. Any advice?

I am a person who came to work in Doha for 5400 QAR. The organization offered me Accomodation, Tickets etc..

But when I reached Qatar, they took more than 6 months to give me my salary, no contract letter,

I had to live like a begger for around 6 months. and later neither of my needs where considered. So I resigned from the job...So bro..dont get into a trap. Think many times, before accepting the offer.

With this salary, i think his bathroom is part of his bed room.. probably 3 inches away from his bed.

just check if you have a private room and bathroom in your accommodation.

To me it's low, but you didn't explain the nature of the work..

if your taste testing for camel wine, it's too low

otherwise, its ok..

I told them the offer was too low and they replied that there was some miscommunication. it turns out the salary is $5,500 USD a month not QAR! The rep accidentally wrote QAR. Ok, so $5.5K USD a month plus free housing and free transportation. sound reasonable?

You don't say what the job is and how much experience you have.

However, if accomodation and transportation are being provided then 5k is more than enough to live on per month.

Good luck!

Since you are from the US, ask for $5.000, not for QR5.000.

Looks like it could be below minimum wage. If someone offers such a low salary, just wait until you see the housing offered!

Minimum requirement by Immigration to bring your family is QR10k basic salary only, so why you accept 5k?

Below QAR 12,000 no point coming over , in QAR 5000 you will struggle to find a room and even eat 2 times. Once there was a lion in India who stayed in a zoo . He got very good food 3 times at the zoo and good big cage to stay . One day the zoo keeper got an offer for this lion for Doha zoo . The price offered was good and the keeper agreed , if lion was willing to go to doha . So the lion landed up in Doha Zoo . The lion thought he will stay in airconditioned zoo , get great food and enjoy life in Doha like NRI Lion . On the first Day , the lion got good food and the zoo keeper gave him due attention . From day 2 , he got only food once a day . from day 3 , only tit bits . Finally the lion realised that it is better to LIVE LIKE A LION IN HOME COUNTRY than to come to Doha and struggle . Hope you like this anecdote and don t end up like this Lion .

Be wise and negotiate for QAR 12,000 per month salary , if the company needs you , they will give you . Otherwise live like a Lion in your home country and wait for somebody who knows the value of a person like you .

he said 5000/month...

that is more than ok since accommodation and transportation is provided by the company. The problem is the food... and your general lifestyle.
