Salary feedback

Hello everybody,

I live in the good old USA with an annual income $135,000, my wife earns around $45,000.I was offered a job in an American firm in Qatar,The package details are as follows:
$12,500 montly salary,$3,500 accomodation allowance,$300 Transportation allowance,$250 Utility allowance, American school for my kid worth $13,000 per year,Airline tickets to USA once a year for the whole family. Good 401k match and $8,000 annual bonus.
Comparing to what I currently make is this an acceptable offer?
Is the accomodation allowance sufficient to rent a house (no appartment), or should I ask for a furnished house instead.
Should I bring my new car with me from USA (07 2wd 4dr Nissan frontier truck that is fully equiped)or purchase locally.
Can my wife find a job in Qatar knowing that she has a degree in computer science. How difficult to get a job and How much do we expect she will earn.
Any information about tax rates (by US government) for USA expats.
Do I bring furniture with us or rent unfurnished house instead if this offers any advantage.
How much do I expect to save knowing that I am a moderate spender nothing excessive.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Your salary package looks pretty ok for me except housing. US$3500 is around 12700 riyals. With this price range you may not have too many options esp if you have preference, e.g. closer to workplace, your child's school, want to live in villa, etc.

I am new here. I have just secured an aprtment (2br, ff, around 80-90sq.m) on the city outskirt area for 9000 riyals a month. This one is decent (from my homecountry's standard). This would give you a rough example.

PM me if you need more info. I have just spent last few weekends looking for accomodation.

Las vegas you can search the info of cost living in qatar for western at www.justlanded.com I hope it can help you to decide...

I thought living in qatar depends on what you want for the future purpose. If living in USA is hard just take it the offering ..It is good offer.

But if not I suggest you to settle down in USA.

Many Indonesian wanna get job in USA but It's difficult..I am Indonesian.

My dream someday can see and work in unle Sam too.

Just thinking about it....

Think you have enough input to make your own calculation.

American expats do pay tax if workng for an American firm.

Thanks for your input, I will ask for furnished house. What is the bottom line, I mean salary wise to make the offer worth it. Do you know the tax implications for US Expat's.

Thanks,

It is not worth it.

You have to consider 4500$ house rent.

Purchasing a car, would cost you about 600 to 800$ monthly.

Mind you, you have to pay income tax since you will be working for an American firm.
